    5 to 12

    That’s 5 players in.
(7 if you include Styles and Leya)

    And 12 out.

So still plenty of wriggle room regarding wages.
Especially when you consider that the players brought in will only be on moderate wages.
Although Luca Connell’s new contract will be substantial.

Money generated by the sale of Collins, Mads and Thomas.
Plus of course Styles, Leya and even Williams may go.

So then - still time and still likely to be a turn over of players in the next month or so.

Personally - I think if we bring in a centre back on loan and the squad stays as it is now then we are good to go.

    You seem to forget --

    1) The idea is to reduce the wage bill because we are in deficit, not to replace one wage cost with another

    2) A large part of many of the wages of the departing loan players will have been paid by the parent club. How much of Tedic's £13K a week do you think we paid ?

    3) Transfer fee income will go straight into the account to cut the deficit, not to fund incoming fees or wages

Don’t know if wi missing Barry - but IMO we are missing someone like Maurice Watkins.
Proper gent - who knew all the people that you needed to know in football.

Which brings me on to - I’ve often wondered if there is anyone at Barnsley now that has good network links.
    Maybe Khaled ???

Remember talking to Dane Murphy about Ben Mansford - saying to him how much I I liked Mansford as he was always available to the media to talk about Barnsley.
I was surprised when Dane said that he knew Ben Mansford quite well and spoke to him every few weeks.
I suppose most people in football know each another.

Put yourself forward Nudge as Barnsley FC Ambassador/ Director of Football networking and pulling strings and "influencing" behind the scenes.
You seem to know everyone at the club, past and present, on speaking terms already and they always seem to pour their thoughts and feelings out to you, revealing stuff they wouldn't normally discuss in public.
It's an opportunity to spread your network across football and when people see you approaching at gatherings they will say, "It's that Barnsley Nudge fella heading in our direction..............."

Still only 10 have come in.
    And 12 have left.
And if Darth Mael hasn’t cost much - then we ant spent much either.

So then ……. still plenty of wriggle room.

I’m expecting at least another 2.
    Probably strikers.

Just to repeat the fact that BFC's "business model" is to buy cheap, develop and sell to survive financially, and has been for years and years. Only a proportion of transfer profit/ wage reduction is used to fund incoming players. It is not a one out--one in relationship at equal total cost.

The club is gradually ratcheting down where it can afford to buy and offer wages which are acceptable to incoming players--from Third Division, to Fourth Division, to Non League and relying more and more on free agents, token fees and loans.

I would not be surprised to see three or four more going out before 1st Sept, some maybe key players, but the funds, often paid in instalments, will be used to keep the club from being totally skint, not spent on like for like (financially) replacements.

I think the loan market will be key to the end of window transfer business , I accept like most do that there could well be a couple more departures which will be a shame because the current squad is possibly only one experienced central defender short of being very competitive for the division but so far we have only got one player on loan to us which is a big difference from last season , it is obvious that we have not got the financial clout to bring in quality but the loan market could give us that opportunity , premier league teams will have nearly finalised their squads for the season & will be looking towards shipping a few out & if we do need the squad tweaking because of departures then the use of the loan system could still be a trump card , but we have time on our side time which Collins will use to assess our squad & team as the games start to roll on & he should know if he needs any gaps plugged.
