Obviously low interest in this one and I even had to rely upon the BBC/Google to get the result as folk on the match thread were too busy chatting about wine and gardening. At least 16 players got to stretch their legs and some 2,800 seats at NYS got the dust polished off them ahead of Saturday. Winning is a habit and not one we have very often so let's rejoice in that small mercy.
Any thoughts on tonight's game?
Never in doubt.
Into the hat for the next round - just hope we don't have any further injuries from this one
I don't do away games anymore nor watch meaningless cup-ties, so I have not seen us yet this season. A few of my mates though reckon this has all the hallmarks of the Stubbs season
.
Can't be that bad can it?
Didn’t see the game so just pleased we scraped through. One observation a l2 club filled the bench we couldn’t !!! Well done to the players for getting through
I don't think either side were interested, especially us. We kinda controlled the second half but the quality of final ball, crosses and set pieces was, in the main, really poor.
I was disappointed with Wiles and Rathbone generally, I was hoping they'd boss this. They didn't. Kelly and Kayode looked like league 2 players tonight, no service to them to be fair either. Lembikisa looks really lightweight I thought. He proved he can beat a man but he's far from the finished article and how he'll do this season, I'm not sure. Remains to be seen. McCart was steady and did nothing wrong. Humphreys looks so good on the ball, class player. McGuckin when he came on was a willing runner, could have scored with a header.
I won't read too much into tonight but we need Cafu, Tiehi and Green to have an impact ASAP.
Two good saves by Phillips in the penalties, looks comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Dext on the right improved as game went on. Fred looks like he needs game time to get his match sharpness. Forwards that started won't have moved into contention for starting Saturday. We weren't at our best but Blackburn game more important.
How did Morrison do in the eyes of anyone over 20? He’s getting a right slagging on Facebook, but then again most of those moaning sound about 12.
Not great tbh sota. There number 9 Mellon was about 8 inch shorter and bullied and won most headers Vs him. Defence wasn't the problem tonight it was midfield. We had none showing for the ball and oddefin, wiles and rathbone looked like they never played together.
It's not hard to see once cafu back and tiehe gets here 2 of those 3 won't be playing
