    Lionesses

Good Luck. Happy for you. A great thing for the young ladies in your country.

The US team was a despicable lot. I knew a lot of people that were rooting against them. Poor mouthing the country while wearing the kit. Wear the shirt with pride or don't play for them.

Yeah no complaint from here. Thought the England girls had by far the better of the game. Surprised our midfield was so ordinary in giving too much time to control the ball, turn and run at us. Think Sweden will probably do us if that doesn't change for the 3rd playoff. On rankings, we progressed further than many thought...and have improved remarkedly in recent times. ☺
Can't see Spain stopping England either!

The women’s game has definitely improved year on year, both in terms of technical ability and general tactical awareness.

That said, the one thing that has really improved seems to be leg strength. Even a few years ago it was rare to see anyone kick with any accuracy over about 30 yards. Most of the better teams have players that can hit goal kicks into the opposition half with precision and decent trajectories. Something some of our men often fail to do.

When I saw Kennedy out with illness I just knew it wasn't meant to be. Polkinhorne is totally useless. What was Carpenter doing in the penalty box to kick the f thing out blonde?
England was solid but not unbeatable Kerr had another 2 easy chances in the second half and missed them all in all good luck to England they haven't been super and have a couple of lucky wins but as I say you don't have to be pretty to win.
As for us, this was our time I don't think we can pull out another team like this due to the population we have but we took the wrong time to make our worse effort in the cup.
I hope England wins it but if they don't at least they have shown the man how to win.

Watched the final and have to say Spain would have been hard done by to have not won. They really surprised me with the quality of their one touch possesssion within limited space. Some of it as good as the EFL at times! Probably would have been game over if the penalty went in. England very game, and looked threatening on the counterattack...but just lacked the flair of the Spaniards for mine. Great game to watch though, and worthy of the final.

Spain were certainly the better team, but their goal was essentially down to poor decision making, or at least a failure of other players to cover an ill-advised dribble from the right back into the middle of the field, leaving that entire flank open when the ball was lost.

    It happens.

Entertaining game though and a decent platform for going forward next time?

I like watching womens football for 2 major reasons. 1. The women very rarely dive in the box. 2. The women rarely argue/swear at the ref. I dont like womens football for 1 reason: the number of ACL injuries. Women because of the wider q-angle caused by larger hip to femur length ratio, have greater stress on their ACL to begin with. So, if you are a shorter girl with wide hips, chances of tearing your acl playing high level football is very great. Thats why there are so many ACL injuries in womens football. And there's nothing you can do about it.

Careful CP7, I used to coach high level womens baskeball teams. I used to have that exact talk to some parents about that point. Generally to the short point guard that had a stocky build. The parents would go nuclear on me. I always explained it very nicely and empathetically but it was never taken that way.

Not one of the girls I talked about to the parents made it through HS without at least one blown ACL and several had mulitple. It's a cruel twist of evolution but it is a fact.

Indoor soccer (football) is the worst. The grip on astroturf along with the speed of the game almost ensures knee injuries over time.

I loved playing sports and always played on the edge. However, not sure anything is worth blowing out your knee for. You are never the same and will likley be a knee replacement candidate early in life.

Unfortunately there's something in the ACL injuries for females. The player I mentioned earlier is actually fit now more or less after ACL but there are plenty more females suffering the same injury. Not sure what the physiological explanation is.
