MillersMad Matchthread - The MILLERS v Ipswich

It's going to be a tough one. A win and we're on top of the world, a draw and it's a great result whitch we'd take now or an expected loss.

The expected loss would put more pressure on a change. I personally reckon that the result is secondary tonight. It's the performance that is key. A lackluster show or bad selection either in style or selection won't hold off the criticism.

There is no doubt that each and everyone of us want us to win.

I'll mainly be drinking during the match! Enjoy yourselves!

    COME ON YOU REDS!!!!!

Nice intro frog, and I tend to agree with you that for a few of us it's as much about performance as it is result. Whilst I understand some wanting us to play 2 up front at home, I would prefer 4-5-1 against these who are scoring for fun, and I'm actually looking forward to seeing them play. We need not only decent results, but also decent performances, and a good result plus performance against Ipswich, could very well kick start our season. Let's not forget we have been decimated with injuries in every department from the start of the season, but the last few games has seen, certainly our midfield, have some big players back. I thought Morrison on saturday was starting to look like the player we expected after a bad injury, and Ayala certainly looked decent on his small cameo on saturday. Our 2 full backs drive forward as much as they can and I can see a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel, but like the manager says he has trust issues with some players, have some players got the same with the manager. I am so looking forward to this game as imo it will give us an insight into both our players and our managers mindset, and I really hope Ladapo gets a great reception, he did well for us, and I will never ever forget the 97th minute winner at the sty 2 and a half years ago, and the noise that came out of my mouth watching on tv should have caused an earthquake. They have a very experienced and well travelled central midfield, how come their 30 + years old players don’t get injured ? This is where the game will be one or lost !

As much as I want us to win, I really am not bothered about the result. I want to see a performance that shows we are trying to win a game and having a go. Sick of this negative stuff Taylor is playing.

    Let them off the lease.

We have to work hard, close them down, be brave and make the most of set pieces lots of early crosses into the box, hopefully to two strikers. If we line up and start the the same as the last few games it won't be a good night.
Play with pride and passion, it makes such a difference

I would love to see a good performance and a win. But I wouldn’t complain with a poor one and a win. The latter I can’t see happening, to beat these I think it would have to be a very good performance.

Frog said on another thread play 5 at the back well 3 central defenders 2 after Saturday have to be Odoffin Bramall 2 wing backs Dext & Revan who both can play at full back then you've got your 5. Cafu Tiehi Rathbone 3 in midfield 2 forwards not forgetting Victor in goal I can't see why not but doubt MT will think the same!

Time for Cafu to put a shift in.

Just text my mate for his prediction he replied with ' tonight will be the night, we hear the first chants of 'Taylor Out' from our fans' 😕

I must be deluded but I think we will win tonight

From what I gather, Ipswich played a 5 man midfield on Saturday against Birmingham and 4 at the back so MT might want to match them up, unless he thinks we can play with WBs and get in behind them.

As much as I'd like it, I can't see us starting with 2 up against Ipswich. I think we'll set up much the same as we did on Saturday. And to be fair, we've seen some really good performances playing this way against good sides, albeit not recently. So if we don't change shape, fair enough, but what we will need is for some players to really step up to the plate tonight against a good team.

The positive thing is that we've played well against top sides at home so let's hope they do so again tonight.
