Thread: Motherwell's next manager

    Motherwell's next manager

Suspect there'll be a few expressions of interest made by Monday, even if SK hangs on a bit longer.

Thanks for keeping us up last season but this was an end of era selection and performance to match I'm afraid.

Yeah he’s done, let’s not kid ourselves. His summer transfer business and his inability to adjust his teams is what’s going to cost him his job. We are now back to where we were just before Hammell left with a team devoid of confidence and direction, but sadly weaker than then due to the players we lost in the summer and who we replaced them with.

The problem is I have absolutely no faith in us appointment and if/when the time comes the job will go to someone already at the club, most likely Stephen Frail or David Clarkson and even with the horrific possibility of Ricky Foster being involved somehow.

I'm actually quite forgiving of the dismal signings - he will rightly point out that this summer's budget included two former managers and last January's supermarket sweep to stay up.

A new man coming in for this January will then be handed a budget with 100k plus hastily scored out to pay for SK and Frail leaving.

So recruitment is highly unlikely to be much better.

Why I'd bin him is the abandonment of the keep it simple principles that had us winning. Yesterday wasn't full on Alexander tombola but not far off.

If after eight winless games he still:
    Doesn't play a real lwb
Keeps SOD on the right over Spencer
Still tries to squeeze in two poor forwards
    Doesn't restore pressing
Doesn't play the real six he signed despite inexplicably stopping pressing

There is absolutely nothing to suggest he'll do so against Dundee (I'm writing off Celtic) which means there's absolutely nothing to suggest we'll turn things around.

I suspect the board will hang on as long as possible, which means into December, but essentially we're just wasting games.
