Fan jailed over racial abuse towards Rio Ferdinand

Maybe as the courts crack down more on this kind of uncalled for abuse, fans may think twice before opening their gobs.

Probably well deserved but actual physical assault attracts lower sentences

Sadly it does and usually with a 2/3 year sentence suspended for 2/3 years such is the weak judicial system in our supposed leading legal country.

I won't express what I'd do if my immediate family came to any serious harm so as not to incriminate myself........screw the system I say.

I am sorry i cannot agree with this, when people are put in prison for basically calling people names we are in a bad place. Yes such actions are awful but that man needs to be educated and made to do community work in a way that educates him that racial differences are not a basis of hatred. being in prison is likely to make him hate even more and spread that hatred throughout his life. The cost of prison is also a huge burdon upon our society. Punishment and education yes, prison no.
