    What we need

    (and what we haven't got)
1 Players with excellent first touch.
2 Players willing, and fit enough, to run into space even when it's not leading to any personal glory.
3 Players brave enough to try a through ball.
4 Players who can deliver a variety of dead ball situations.
5 Players who can clear the lines. The ball in row Z is better than in the back of our net.
Unfortunately we don't have very many who might qualify

95% of pro players, including ours, can do those things.

What you have to factor in, is the opponent and their qualities and skillset.

Unfortunately overcoming that at this level needs money.

That's what we need to quieten all you bleaters down. ........... and a lot of it.

Doesn't excuse a lack of effort from some though. Something our teams have always shown over the years.

95% of our players cerainly can't deliver a decent dead ball, in fact probably fewer than 5% can.
It's hard to emphasise how poor that is for professional footballers.

Does make you wonder what they do in training, surely practising corners and free kicks should be a priority.
If it`s not your natural talent to do such things, then you need to practise, practise, and practise a bit more until you can put a ball somewhere near one of your team mates.
I`m pretty sure Mr Beckham spent countless hours doing that very thing until got good at it.

Money will always be a huge factor but it isn't going to always work, lots of clubs have spent a lot on players and still failed.

I am interested in your comment about factoring in the opposition abilities etc in response to Tigerish list, how does the opposition skills impact a players ability to kick a ball from a dead ball situation, or the ability to control a ball or run into spaces or in fact how to put a ball in row Z when required?

I would agree that the ability of the opposition impacts the amount of time our players have or how they can get dragged out of position but not the ability to take a corner or free kick

Used to be simple man to man marking when I was at school and growing up.
Man up at set pieces and corners.

    Simple but effective.

    We need full backs.
Ones who can defend, stop the opponents scoring and don’t make silly mistakes

Unfortunately flour, with our lack of pace up front Bramhall in quite a few games becomes our most potent attacker using his electric pace to get forward but then finds himself out of position if/when we lose the ball. UTM

This where transfer windows come in, we shall see what the intent is on those points. Indeed, in what order of priority.

You have omitted the basic skill of the lot, which is football starts in the head, with correct thought and speed. Without that, skill is redundant.

That is the main issue with this squad (and instructions from the previous manager for good measure).

This is why so many people thought we have a great squad of talented individuals. They have skill, the above gets in the way.

Sounds like not much . Arriving late for training seems to be one of the problems. Think a few are in for a big shock .LR already cancelled a day off , hopefully he cancels a few more in the future until we start getting the basics right .
