    Jordan Beyer

Seeing as we're all putting the boot in after last night's display, I might as well get this one off my chest while we're at it. There's been this little thought niggling at the back of my mind for a while now, Jordan Beyer, he's not that good really is he, or at least nowhere near as good as we thought he was going to be last season.

Or am I being unfair to the lad ?

Either VK has restricted his surging runs or he has lost confidence like the rest of the team.He certainly looks the most composed defender we have at the moment. He dropped that one clanger which lead to a goal in a game earlier in the season and he probably is wary of making the same mistake.
He made a good run through the field last night but his final ball was and has been bad of late.

It was watching Tarkowski in the last couple of Everton games that really brought it home for me. Tarko dominates in that Everton defence, he runs it, I just don't notice Beyer at the heart of our defence, he's anonymous.

I think Bayer is our best defender, but he may be aware of the lack of class around him, O'Shea, Roberts, are nowhere near good enough.
Last season although in the championship, Bayer and Harwood-Bellis were pretty sound, one can not be sure they would have done so in the premier league but it is unlikely Harwood-Bellis would not have been better than O'Shea.

O`Shea was probably half the price of THB.Like Sinkov says you pay peanuts, you invariably end up with monkeys.

I think you're right VC, and that, in a nutshell, is our problem.

Our current CB are no real comparisons to Mee and Tarky… different class. But they were gone before VK came along and he probably would have thought they were not good enough with the ball anyway.

Tbf Sinkov I don’t think it’s fair as individuals to be criticised

Beyer is a German international footballer who was head and shoulders above in the championship.

Our real problem is that the spine of the team isn’t there - the only way you replace Mees and Tarkys is spend a lot of money, we needed imo a seasoned centre back to help the younger generation we have bought ( including Beyer ).

With respect to Jordon you don’t represent the German national teams at any level without class.

I think I’m truth we really got caught out because genuinely VK thought he could just carry on this season using new players all / most without experience at this level.

I’m certainly no expert especially at premiership level but what I do know is you simply can’t have ball watchers - non competitive midfielders Who don’t / can’t stay with a man and make it difficult for them to influence games / score.

We have bought/ signed lots of players and yet the old brigade still get in the team when they should be at most substitutes to help close out or influence a game when we need to do this.

My worry really is that it doesn’t seem to get addressed week in and out I watch and our throwing are shocking we let wide men run off us and deliver ball into our box - we can’t get the ball and keep it in the oppositions last third we don’t mark or communicate enough and we simply aren’t aggressive enough to win games.

And after all of the above we are the nicest football team I’ve ever seen.

Robert’s - I’ll discipline in his play and positioning
Vitinho - ball watcher - statuesque at times and plays telegraphed balls

O’Shea - had mistakes in him but does try and meet balls as a centre back

Cullen - too small to compete at this level unless we change shape and the way we play to include him.

Brownhill- can not mark and lets runners go and also ball watches.

JBG - usually plays wrong side of pitch ( one footed ) constantly narrows plays and slows us down - disappears for large chunks in games.

JRod - hasn’t the legs and really isn’t a hold up forward but we’re asking him to play that role

When you rationalise the above you can see why we are in it up to our necks - I’ve said a lot that if you play premiership football you are a good player and that is absolutely true - our problem is we seem to be like Groundhog Day and we can’t get away from the same old habits and shape.

I have always told my brood if you are going to talk the talk you had better be able to walk the walk. 8 home defeats tells me VK is doing neither.

You've got to look for positives BT, VK is breaking all our worst records this season hence it's a record breaking season.
