    Is this a record ?

Sander Berge took the ball out of his own half, kept on going and scored. I can't recall seeing any other Burnley player scoring after a run which started in our half. Anyone know if it's been done before ?

Tommy Cummings v Newcastle springs to mind. There is a link to a Clarets page but I can’t paste it.

Tommy Cummings does ring a bell Outwood, I have seen it done on't Turf, Peter Osgood for Chelsea, one of the best goals I've ever seen.

I think it was the year before I started watching regularly, so I missed it.

Son's goal of the season wasn't bad either even if it was the wrong end.

Tommy Cummings goals was on 19 January 1952 and would most likely be very pleasing for a Sunderland born player!
We had lost 1-7 at St James' Park early in the season.

It was before my time (I had not even been born!) but I read about Tommy’s amazing exploit and as it was so outstanding the telling of it stuck in my memory. Some goals do live on. Paul Fletcher v Leeds United 1974 and Wade Elliott’s stunner v Sheffield United in the 2009 Play Off Final are amongst others.
