If you live or have to travel in Worcestershire…..

    A bit of advice……don’t!

A mile or more section of the A448 from just past the turning into Chaddesley Corbett High St right up to the Mustow Green island is closed from late tonight for at least 3 months in both directions whilst Severn Trent lean on their spades.

For anyone travelling along the A448 from Bromsgrove towards Kidderminster or cutting across towards Hagley and Belbroughton it’s going to be chaos as HGV’s and articulated lorry’s will be using Chaddesley Corbett High St and the small country lanes including the one I live on.

It might not affect many of you but if it does, it’s worth knowing about.

Closing a main artery in this way is just madness.

If I ever have an uninterrupted car journey these days its a flippin miracle. There seems to be no end of road works. Where once major works were carried out in the dead of night in order to lessen chaos now appears to be a thing of the past.
They dig a smallish hole, in the road or the pavement, then surround it by barriers then the barriers are surrounded by cones, which then effectively closes a whole lane resulting in these slow changing 3 or 4 way temporary lights. I swear its all deliberate to cause maximum stress in the hope they make you, in the future, use a bus

Oh dear! I will be using that road sometime in the next few weeks for one of my visits to the Plough at Shenstone; looks like I will need to find an alternative route. Another route I use is the A509 into Milton Keynes when I go to gigs at the Stables; they closed the 509 for 6 months because the council deemed it unsafe to have regular traffic when there are construction people building yet more ticky tacky houses adjacent to it, ludicrous. As for getting to Shenstone, I suppose that I’ll have to go via Droitwich?

Kets, come off the M5 At Bromsgrove on Junction 4 and come towards Stourbridge and then take the turning that takes you down Hartle Lane and into Belbroughton.

Come through Belbroughton and head towards Drayton, when you are just outside Chaddesley Corbett return right into Woodrow Lane.

End of Woodrow Lane turn left and then up to the Mustow Green Island and turn right towards Shenstone and Kiddie.

Best advice I can give mate.

Thanks Mick, I ought to know my way around that part of the World but it is a long time since I lived there. I will take a look at my map; yes, I’m old school and still use a map!

Thanks Mick, this is a right ball ache for me, I exit the M42 at Bromsgrove on my way to visit my elderly parents in Stourport regularly. Also will stop my cheap Diesel fills at the garage.

I can honestly say I have never seen so many huge pot holes on the roads. I tend to drive dodging them but already punctuated one tyre! We are on a third world country now!

No you’ll be okay mate, the petrol station At Chaddesley Corbett is still accessible, the no entry barriers are just on the bend after the turning up Chaddesley Corbett High St.

Then up the High St. turn left into Woodrow Lane and then turn left up to Mustow Green island and you’re back on course.
