Aye...great shout for a thread, Jammy.
If Schar was going to be a regular, I'd give it to him.i'd be tempted to give it to big Joe, tbh. I agree with Burn-I'm just not sure he'll be a regular either.

With Lascelles injured and on his way out and god knows what is happening with Trips, it got me thinking about the next captain and vice.
Until they are gone it will obviously be those two as club captain and team captain but. . .
My guess is that Big Dan Burn will get the nod as he has done many times.
But I also think we'll see Bruno or Gordon as captain and the other vice in the non-distant future.

Interestingly, or not.
I also considered all of those.
I could see it as Big Dan Burn with Schar as his vice very easily but once Botman is back that would leave Schar starting as captain, or Eddie forcing Burn into the team cos he's captain and what the end of this season has shown us is we have much better options at left-back.
I did wonder about Big Joe but I dunno, I just don't see him in that rule. . . Responsibility seems to lock him up, when it was his role to score it locked him. When he was moved upfront for a game this season, it lock him.
Make him captain and will we loose the destroyer because he'll lock up about not getting cards etc.
Whereas Bruno. . . he won't give a **** and will carry on counting it as an honour and if he's carded because of it, so be it. Same with Gordon, I just don't see Big Joe having that attitude.
I think there’s only one candidate and that’s Schar, I like a defender as captain, and Schar probs has one season left as a regular, so it’s him for me. As for vice captain, definitely not Gordon, what about Pope, he’s gonna be first choice. Apart from that, I’m struggling but I’m sure Eddie has his own ideas and already has the answer.
Whilst they’re at the club, Lascelles and Tripps should remain club captain and vice captain. They both have a good attitude and are natural leaders. No reason why we should make any changes.
If one or both were to leave then Bruno would be the obvious choice in my opinion. Also a natural leader, he thrives under pressure. Schär has a tendency to sulk when things are going badly. Jo leads by example but not sure he would welcome the additional pressure of the armband. Dan Burn would be a good shout if he was going to start but I’m not sure I like the idea of another club captain who isn’t an automatic starter.
If Carlsberg made Forum threads! lord knows they can't make a good beer haha
Great topic Jammy you salty auld seadog!
All responses pretty much cover all the angles of my usual long winded gas bagging responses haha you B*****ds haha
BDB - had worn the armband in absence of Lascelles & Tripz. So good shout. However, as mentioned as we move forward he's likely to become another Lascelles as more quality players join the squad. Not opposed to this but dunno if that's the route we want to go down rather than having our full captain on the pitch full-time.
Joelinton - The personification of the club. From zero to hero, a redemption story of Hollywood proportions. All the characteristics of a Captain but as mentioned I like him as the enforcer rather than the leader. The Sargent at Arms to the squadron leader so to speak.
Schar - the Swiss smoke show and warrior prince is a great shout. Ever present in recent seasons, leads by example and has carried the strap on the odd occasion.
Pope - you could argue the goal keeper. Top lad, big presence. Wouldn't be mad at it.
Wilson - if he was fit more often and 4 yrs younger, he'd be in with a Shearer-esque striker captain shout. Sadly he's not and he's on the outs.
Goes to show what a great leadership group we have in the squad.
My Choice would be:
Bruno - The lad's a natural born leader by example and vocal on the pitch. Respected across all levels of the club from terrace to boardroom.
Making him captain adds more value to him as a player and him being such an emotional character would add more layers of complexity with regard to him leaving the club.
Am with Raga, Bruno all day long.
He is the driving force in a lot of games.
He’s proven he can keep his aggression under control
Also, I always just prefer to have a midfielder as Captain because they get involved in everything and have the best view of what is going on
May be not first choice, but Id like to throw another one into the hat.
What about Sandro Tonali? Kind of dark horse, as we dont know how he gets on with the team, how is his english etc.
But he was Milan captain, solid starter if fit and up to his level. If he gets his problems behind, plays his best football, learns the language, then why not?
