That was my immediate suspicion when I heard Cashworth had been tapped up.

In turn, former sporting director Dan Ashworth, had not been in a rush to agree a new contract with Brazil international Joelinton because he recognised the club may well need to sell him. The 27-year-old would have had one year left on his existing deal this summer and there was a market for him.
Having joined in 2019 for £40 million, the amortisation of his contract would mean a significant profit for PSR calculations if they could get £50-60 million for him. As soon as Ashworth left, however, Newcastle agreed to make one of Howe’s blue-chip brigade one of the club’s highest earners and he signed a new long-term contract. That option was also closed.
Ashworth had already started talking with Brailsford about moving to Man U.
Ratcliff's deal was over a year in the making. Brailsford was onboard from day 1. He'd have already sounded out Ashworth way back. They don't just pull names out of the hat.
So a nice sale of 'One of the clubs Crown Jewels' to his new/next employers at old Trafford would have got the little midget a pat on the head from the bosses.
Joelinton is absolutely integral to Newcastle United's success in EH's first season, the run to UCL qualification & of paramount importance for Bruno's stability and the teams performance on the pitch.
Joe departed, it would make Bruno's decision to leave should an acceptable come in lot easier.
The board identified that as a huge misstep for the club and from Ashworth.
That was my immediate suspicion when I heard Cashworth had been tapped up.

Yeah, well suited to Man Yoo. You can bet our ownership will have not taken lightly this betrayal of wasta. His clout will be reduced going forward you'd think.
Aye - called that as soon as he asked to leave to go there.
Little ****.
Like I said in the other post. Any Wasta he had with Sheikh Yasir is totally gone. I can almost guarantee the Sheikh won't even answer the phone to Ashworth ever again. If there is any direct business between the clubs in the future I will be amazed.
Even the Saudi sponsorship of Man U could be stopped.

I found this interesting article from Feb.
It's an interesting read. Talks about how the Glazers used Sheikh Jasim Al Thani's (full name - Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani - First brother of the Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani - the 'first' bit is important. First born from the first wife is most respected and so on) offer to buy the club outright as leverage. Once again it's a huge insult to do something like this.
Being used in a game to get what the Glazers wanted out of the Rat was probably a great business strategy in their eyes, however, they've naturally made an enemy of PSG going forward.
Talk about burning bridges, this lot are an absolute joke.
Everything I'm hearing from Man U fans, pundits etc is that things have gotten worse since the Rat joined in not better.
Isn't it delightful
A bad start to the season for them with have their fans in uproar. I can't wait.
They're gonna give the buck tooth lesser Bruno a new bumper contract. Loads more money than he's worth for a very long contract, they'll never be able to get rid of him.
Ten Pence is in line for a new contract too. We'll see how long it takes of the swamp dwelling mouth breathers lose their minds and demand change.
With the Manc Mike Ashley no in situ at OT, he'll 'do a Pardew' and keep hold of the guy for far far too long. Hopefully when he does flush the turd that is Ten Pence into the Manchester ship canal they'll bring the tactical genius that is chinless wizard ClownGate and the magic will roll on.
Put ya feet up and crack out the popcorn.
..reading a few of their forums tells me they don't have a clue. One of their fans complained about Minteh selling for the fee we got. The daft cnt called him Yinteh and didn't seem to be aware of his performance last season with Feyenoord scoring 10 in 27 including the CL.
Glad that if we had to sell him, it was to Brighton and not one of the cartel.
The whole Ashworth business with 'the filth' has meant that I'm pretty sure, knowing what I do about Arabic culture that there will never be any business of any sort with them ever again.
Earlier today I saw another laughable 'Toon want McTominay' - Not even worth reading. Just pathetic clickbait of the most lazy variety.
I really want my clickbait to be cryptic and interesting, like an episode of Lost. After reading it I want to have no clue which player we're even talking about. Should get Vicky Pollard to do transfer gossip. It'd be about as coherent.
