    Too many games...

Seems like the European leagues have had enough:

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football...s/c981203e61qo

I read through this and I agree with a lot of the points being made. What hacks me off is the failure to mention the effect so many games has on the fans - seems to be a battle between the suits and the clubs/players.

Personally, I only really care about Dundee United. I despise these international breaks - they quite simply break up the continuity of the domestic leagues. This Mickey Mouse tournament the countries are currently competing in is a step too far. Apart from some Tartan Army diehards, who actually gives a phuck about it?

Wall to wall TV coverage of games, and the manipulation of tournament formats is killing the game many of us love. As the saying goes - "familiarity leads to contempt".

I'm sick of it. I haven't watched any Champions League and definitely no Nations League. Had enough, finally that's it I'm done with it. It's ruining things but nothing will change at FIFA or UEFA. Gave up on UEFA when they fined Celtic 7000 euros for religious chanting, if I recall it happened a second time and they fined them 15000.

As you say its domestic leagues for me, here in Spain with Valencia and my only loyalty which is United.

What phucks me off about the international breaks is how it breaks momentum but then conversely results in fixture overkill. By the time Saturday comes around we’ll have played just seven league games in not far off three months from the beginning of August against The Fun. We then play SIX matches (almost as many again) in just over a month. Phucking mental.

There’s so many games for a couple of reasons:

    1. There’s an appetite for it! Obviously it turns some away but the majority clearly go for it! Money talks!

    2. The players at the top only have themselves to blame! They keep driving up the price every single year! They are all demanding hundreds of thousands of pounds a week. The clubs need the money to pay these wages so they rinse the fans repeatedly and part of that is adding to the calendar! If the players all gave up a percentage of their wage then you could easily reduce the games.

Also I’m absolutely sick of managers like Guardiola, Arteta, Klopp, Tuchel etc complaining that the game is putting their players at risk etc.

Yous have the most money and biggest squads start rotating more and reducing the risk on your own players. Rodri was greeting for months that he needed a rest but Guardiola still played him every single week despite having world class players (or players that you spent £50m on) sitting on the bench every week!

I’m more sick of players and coaches than uefa/fifa!

I doubt many of us are concerned about the players, it's the disruption to our league programme which results in nae fitba now, then a huge pile up later.

The season we got to UEFA final we played 67 competitive games. 2 cup finals, a cup semi and unfortunately it was one of the seasons the SPL format scheduled 44 league games. We had to play both legs of the UEFA Final with a Scottish Cup Final plus extra time in-between. At that time there was no talk of moving fixtures, the league helping us out. We were just knackered by the time we played the 2 finals. I really believe if it had been a normal 36/38 game season we would have won both cups.

Anyway a nice picture from Barcelona I dont recall seeing before. What fn memories.
