I'm quite tempted by this, but I can see it being very popular and I don't want to turn up at 2:45 and be told it's full. Does anyone know if it will be screened in the Navi or MLSB?
Our opening two away matches of the season will be screened live in the Nest.
The 3pm blackout doesn’t apply to fixtures on the first weekend of the EFL season, meaning we can broadcast Saturday’s opening-day trip to Tranmere as well as our Carabao Cup trip to Shrewsbury the following Tuesday.
Our chief executive, Joe Palmer, said: “While we of course want to continue to see the team backed in huge numbers away from home, travelling around the country simply isn’t viable for some of our supporters – particularly for early kick-offs or midweek matches.
“It’s therefore really exciting that we’re in a position to offer the Nest as a vibrant, welcoming and state-of-the-art venue for fans who can’t make it to Tranmere or Shrewsbury to come together at Meadow Lane and get behind the team from afar.
“Unlike for the Euros, and as will be the case for all home games, entry will be free with no ticket required. There’ll be no charge for tables, which will be available on a first come, first served basis.
“If this offering proves popular, we’ll continue to open the Nest for selected away games throughout the season.”
The Nest, which will be serving bar snacks and a wide variety of alocholic and soft drinks, will be open as follows for our first two away matches:
- Sat 10 Aug (KO 3pm): Tranmere (A) - open 12pm-6pm
- Tue 13 Aug (KO 7.45pm): Shrewsbury (A) - open 5pm-10.30pm
Access is from Iremonger Road. We're unable to offer parking for either match.
