    Captain Bruno

Firstly, was great to see him lead us out - I think he'll now be our on-field captain for the foreseeable future.

Fact Trips didn't start I think says something, Eddie doesn't tend to change teams around and as long as we win, Tino will keep his place.

Secondly - "Bruno Guimaraes goes hard in his first programme column: "I want my photo to be in the reception like Sir Bobby Robson, Kevin Keegan, Jackie Milburn.

"I want to be a legend like them - but to truly achieve that, we need to lift a trophy."
    "

That is the attitude we want.

Got to remember that Trippier had a big part to play with England getting to the final and has had a much shorter pre season.

I’d still like to see him Play a big part in our season going forward!

But, well done to Bruno… he really does deserve it, has bought into the club and the fan base.

Hopefully the responsibility will help him keep his head and stay out the ref’s book though

Bruno has grown both as a person and as a professional in the last 12 months, particularly by adapting his game to avoid a 2 game ban for accumulated yellow cards last season. He has demonstrated that he is mature enough to wear the armband.

Bruno Guimaraes is Newcastle United's new 'team captain'.

Jamaal Lascelles has been promoted to a newly-created position of ‘club captain’, while Kieran Trippier will continue as vice-captain
