Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Sheffield United

I understand the blades are going to be backed by 5k fans tomorrow evening and the ticket sales for the home areas looking particularly sparse .

I wouldn't go as far as to say we will be outnumbered but definitely in the 50-50 territory .

Live tv coverage and ST's not in operation plus the general feeling of apathy at the moment are hugely contributing factors .

Hard to see a minor upset on the cards but I suppose it may depend on the strength of the blades team that takes to the field .

As far as our own line up is concerned we haven't really a competitive second string to put out and it may be a case of taking a two or three nil defeat on the chin and saving players for Crawley on Saturday .

I don"t miss at Oakwell for league games but I cannot get myself up for any cup competitions these days, the FA Cup went down the pan when the premier league clubs started to disrespect it which for me has gradually killed it, the league cup up to the quarter final stage is virtually a competition for reserves and the efl cup has been hijacked by the premier league for their own ends which has totally spoilt it , therefore I no longer attend , I will obviously be taking an interest from the armchair , team news, latest score and full time report but that is it for me and to be honest I could not give a jot how many come from the Lane or how many of our fans will turn out , I hope we do well as I always do but to be totally honest I am genuinely not bothered .

They could put out their u15's and we would lose! Probably lose 4-3 with us being 3 up after 60 mins!

I remember the reds being 3-0 up at home to Exeter if memory serves.

Didn’t really expect to be in the draw for the next round but all good.

First half wasn’t great but I really enjoyed the second half. Up to our goal, I thought we looked very good going forward and then, naturally, we dropped deeper and they brought better players on. Defended as a unit though.

Special mentions to winning goalscorer Max Watters and Barry Cotter, who I thought had his best game for us.

Well how wrong could I have been! Played so well tonight, they ran their blood to Watta, Watters 2 in 2, defended brilliantly as well.
I hope this gives them some confidence now, hopefully reinforcements will come in the next few days?
Special mention for Cotter who I thought was outstanding.

Well done to the lads. Worked very hard and deserved our victory. Second half we probed and showed more attacking intent resulting in our opening goal which was an excellent move.

United were always gonna play a possession based game out from the back, but I thought that suited us because we pressed them well up until 70 mins, then with the subs and 1-0 lead, we inevitably dropped deeper.

Looking at young Yoganathan, he looks a very good prospect. He looks good on the ball and has quick feet although he's still very raw. Barry Cotter was my MOTM and was absolutely superb. The best I've seen him play in a Reds shirt. His fitness and effort is phenomenal and played a peach of a pass for the goal.
