We have played against 3 teams we played last season and so far we have done better than we did when LW was in charge..For me that says SM must be doing something right. Let's hope last night was the transformation in the home form he/we needed.!.x

The concern will be that we will live to regret employing SM with no guarantee the current owners will find themselves in such a great position again that deep into a season.
Put it this way.... Who thought 12th placed Crawley Town were a better team than Notts at the time LW left? They are now playing in tier 3. With Crawley in mind, Notts definitely could have gone up last season had they replaced LW with somebody half decent.
It's all well and good if SM ultimately delivers but I still think he'll turn out to be another Burchnall type of manager, doing enough to stay in the job but not actually getting Notts over the line. At this level, that is going to be no less frustrating than it was being stuck in tier 5 before LW came along.
Even a better manager could not mitigate against the constant, individual errors that cost us games, the defensive issues should have been addressed by changes in personnel which the manager has no control over. It has to be said though that several games under SM were amongst the worst I've ever seen Notts play.
It's fair to say that he has yet to win me over but I'm willing to give him a chance, so far so good.
Jones has been so good so far, I heard a comment that he was using both wings and I think Maynard should give him the freedom to do just that, he's so good at this level he'll cause havoc.
I suppose it could be argued with some justification that our first goal was offside, our second was handball, our third was a miscued cross, and our fourth was a fortunate deflection. We certainly had the rub of the green last night for once, but I think you make your own luck to a degree. If you put quality balls into the box and have shots as often as we did, you greatly increase the chance of a 'lucky' break. It would have taken spectacular bad luck for us to come out of the game with no goals, and we were fully deserving of the points.
The greatest frustration last season was the amount of balls played in to the box or should I say, not played in. The quality of some of Jones's crosses last night were exceptional, Macca would have had a field day and it will certainly suit Jatta.
Jatta seems clumsy, he doesn't have the best touch but his instincts are good and he works hard, he'll get goals in this set up.
