Thanks for a great read, evoking many happy memories of meteoric times for the club.I knew he had succumbed to pneumonia but not the circumstances surrounding it.He passed before organizations such as the ex-players association might have helped - excellent to hear some old familiar voices from the past in the piece on Matchday last week on the Alzheimer's association the club has formed.
The hard-drinking culture also claimed another of Notts' Medders lad of the era,Billy Brindley, dead at 60 with a shot liver.
I never knew he scored a record-setting goal for the R*dbacks.10 seconds after coming on as a sub at the Dell until I saw it online..

Really enjoyed reading this piece about Pedro and those times. What a fine player he was, brilliant as a right back and in my humble view, even better as a sweeper in that Howard Wilkinson side where he absolutely excelled. Quick, tough tackling and could read a game well. I recall John Robertson saying that both Pedro and Benjy were two of his toughest opponents.

It's extemely sad the way his life went off the rails, bless him. We shall remember him for the good times.

Incredibly he scored just six goals (five in the league and one in the Milk Cup), possibly because, as one famous pundit facetiously claimed, he only crossed the half-way line at half-time when the teams changed ends!

I only got to see Pedro in his final four seasons at the club but did get to witness half of his goals, two of them in separate 6-1 victories.

I was in awe of Pedro Richards the defender. There he was playing for us, but you always had the feeling that he wouldn't have been out of place at a World Cup - a real maestro and master of his craft

Several years after he retired I stumbled across a Notts Senior Cup semi final and there was Pedro who was still head and shoulders above anyone on the pitch. Class will always out.

Slight irony in McVay writing a tribute...I thought he ended up with Pedro's missus back in the 80's and there was some bad blood there.
