    Accrington

Well, last week?, was it a monkey off the back or just a poor competitor? Likes i) intensity ii) passion iii) right side interaction iv) sensible use of substitutes. Dislikes i) lack early ball into the box ii) keeper that big should command his box iii) playing out from back as if a necessity rather than option iv) only 1 x goal and its a penalty (but well taken).
So does this kick start the season,? I still think the league is in settle down mode and lots of movement both up and down. Ten games should begin to show who is who and where Crewe actually stand against the rest of the league.
Amazed the lack of comments, possibly just a slow Monday?

We've just had 7 points from 9. So the situation doesn't appeal to some. I'm they'll be back next defeat.
I don't know if you follow the "Standing Alone" blog but as is suggested there, its possible LB is aiming for more points and sustained stability before opening up and attacking a bit more. I really hope that is true. We did show shades of forward fluency for 20 minutes until Hemmings was withdrawn.
As for the coming Saturday, I still am hopeful for Lankester instead of Tracey and that Bell will risk playing Hemmings and Bogle together for some of the time.

I think Hemmings and Bogle up front is the obvious option going forward once Bogle is match fit, until then Tracey is an option but agree that Lankester should be in the starting line-up. It will take 10 games for LB to get a better understanding of his best starting 11 or his best formation, but some of that will change depending on the opposition. It will probably take me that long to understand what our best options and players are. Accrington will no doubt be another scrappy game which we should have enough to overcome but it could go either way. I wouldn't be upset with a draw unless we are leading by 2 goals at half time but am hoping for a win.

No Bogle on the bench. Only 1 out of a bare 3 strikers is not a good look, is it? How soon before Thibault has to be included on the bench?

I would probably have gone with 0-0 for another scrappy performance but am happy with a 1-0 win and a clean sheet, but we have Harrogate next week and that will provide a sterner test than Morecambe and Accrington, that should give us an idea of where we are, but with Bogle and Long out of action, who knows how long they will be out, maybe Thibault and Roberts should be called up to the subs bench.
