OT - Carvery @ Sir Jacks - Bramley

    Day off today.

First time in years we popped into Sir Jacks and had their carvery for lunch. Head and shoulders above any carvery or similar, I've had this year.

Price is £7 or add £1 to go large. Same price 7 days a week. Meat was quality. Plenty of veg choice. Would happily have paid twice that. Drinks were reasonable as well. Bottle wine £13-£20 a bottle. Two bottles Peroni are £6.

Seating is well laid out. Couldn't believe the transformation from the last time we visited.

    Sounds like a Greene King.

Went to the Marquis last week, pretty good but the roast potatoes were hard, Toby still does better potatoes.

Not one of the big chains but ordered 3 Sunday dinners from the Waverley at Catcliffe Sunday b4 last £6.95 for a “small” there was a large and a mega or something
Never had a Sunday dinner delivered b4 had the usual Chinese pizza etc but never a Sunday carvery so didn’t know what size and played safe with 3 x small
Fantastic! Plenty left over for the dog!😃
Live in Treeton so was only abt 5 minutes away if you’re in that area Brinny Whiston etc and can’t be arsed to cook or go out give it a try

Must admit I went to 2 Toby's during our visit there last month and would never eat at either of them again (Dodworth and one in Leeds somewhere). 3 slices of not very good meat is not my idea of great value for the 12 and 15 pounds I think we paid. Had a quite nice lamb shank Sunday Roast meal in the Rock at Wentworth for a similar price and didn't feel I had to build a mountain of veg on my plate to get my money's worth (it's not a carvery anyway so couldn't even if I'd wanted to).

Definitely not a typical Greene King.

Roasties today were soft. Not the frozen type variety. Lot less hectic layout than a Toby. Only upside at Toby is Lamb roast at weekends.

This is fully refurbished and a much better experience. Far superior product to Toby carvery. Take your missus and if you don't think so, I'll send you the £16 via bank transfer, if you don't like it.

You can pay for the fuel and drinks.

Waverley always used to do a nice Carvery. So no surprise.

I shall give the Sit Jack Carvery a go on my next visit. (I sometimes stay at the Ibis Hotel next door so it’s convenient.) Had an evening meal there on my last visit and it was very average but it’s obviously better known for the carvery.

I have relatives near Hull and have always really enjoyed the excellent Toby Carvery at Willerby on the Beverley Road. Have been eating there for about 15 years and it’s always been good. Since my sister died I’ve taken her children, grandchildren and one great grandchild there for a family meal - about thir**** of us - on each visit to remember her and it’s an enjoyable and relatively inexpensive outing.
