    Paul Mitchell

Should pack his bags. A total failure in doing his job. Hes got the money, but hes clearly not capable of getting deals over the line, or when to say thank you and move on to other targets.

With Amanda and Ashworth, we wouldnt have been in this situation.

Can't agree with that myself Viking.

It has undeniable not been a great window (barring a miracle tomorrow) but I don't think that can be thrown all at his door.

I think it is clear that Eddie has wanted Guehi which, knowing Eddie as we do, he'll have said no to moving forward with other targets - we certainly had other targets that seemed more Mitchell based (European, younger with sell clauses etc.).

We've also been hit badly by PSR, I really don't think he can be fully judged till he's had a few windows.

Also, he's come in, in the middle of a restructure - whatever led to that is neither here nor there, it was happening when he came in and he's had to work through that.

There is a reason he's so highly rated across the continent and I think we'll see that in the coming windows.

Good for you Jammy, and I know what you are saying but I still think he (or the whole recruitment staff) had done a horrible job. Its simply not good enough. There is so much talent out there, I cant belive we have failed to sign a CB. Also there is other people than Mitchell in the recruitment staff, and some of them have been here for a long while. They knew last sesson that we needed a CB and a right winger. Still nothing has been done. Whos responsible for that? Paul Mitchell.

We are weaker than last year.

How many windows will he need? And why was Amanda and Ashworth doing business from day one? Ashworth has done it again at Man U...

Just been reading they think they can get europe with the current squad not a chance everyone else has strengthened and we are still chasing Guehi instead of looking at other options, Its been the worse Window for years.

Why are people still talking about PSR. The 3 year slate was wiped clean.

Worst window since Ashley, by far.

I agree, not a chance of europe with this squad. We're a bit stronger with Tonali now, but in depth and numbers at the back were at status quo at best. Probably a bit weaker.

I'm at 3 now, for this season.

The back and forth on Guehi is pretty embarassing but I don't blame the whole window being a failure on Mitchell.
He came in and the dust has barely settled. Maybe his intiial meetings determined that injuries and fitness were a greater concern than squad depth - hence, bringing in Bunce to support that.

There was also the comments made by Howe in those initial press conferences that he needs to feel happy and included in the process in order to be here. To me, this makes me think that even if Mitchell came in with a shortlist of targets, subsequent meetings with Howe and the scouting team needed to take place for everyone to get aligned on targets.

I completely trust the track record and competancy of Howe and Mitchell to move this club forward. I'm not sure if some of this summer should be resting on Eales? More transparency would be nice - it's not like the club are keeping their cards close their chest.

Anyway, 1 day to save the summer window but if we can keep within reach of European places by the January window, not all is lost.

It’s a ROLLING 3 year average. So, spends made 4 years ago have ‘dropped out’ of the PSR calculation. More recent ones (like Isak, Botman) have not yet.

My take: the Guehi situation is not embarrassing. Palace have their price and we have ours. Negotiations have been protracted but the ‘pain’ has been caused by Parish flapping his gums to the Press.
If the club (NB not just Mitchell) has decided not to look at alternatives to Guehi then so be it - the pressure is on them to achieve success with what we have.
