Romared Match Thoughts Barnsley v Wycombe Wanderers

The so called good start to the season is actually a bit of a myth in my opinion , some stuttering performances , a very suspect defence and a lack of real quality up top and we've yet to play anyone of note as yet .

Clarke seems to be looking for a winning hand with the recruitment cards he was dealt , we've been here before of course in season's past , many times .

It's always a struggle against Wycombe , a dogfight is usually the fayre on offer and I expect tomorrow night to be no different .

Previous Barnsley teams have rolled their sleeves up against Wycombe , got stuck in and found a way to win the game .

The only prediction I can make is that it won't be pretty tomorrow night but the difference from season's past is that it will probably be ourselves who are just as guilty at creating an anti football game .

Not sure whether I've the stomach to tune in but I'll see how I feel tomorrow night .

I remember a piece of "total football" that Pep would have been proud of to win us this fixture last season.

Near the end of the game the Wycombe keeper was time wasting standing in his area, ball clasped to chest. It was time wasting of Brad Collins-esque proportions that fans used to praise and enjoy under Ismael. Cosgrove ran forward 10-15 yards to stand next to their keeper. A piece of football magic by Cosgrove resulted in the ball rolling on the floor and Cosgrove put it in the net. One-nil, game won.

At the end of the season those extra two points meant we scraped the 6th spot Play Off position.

More of the same please Mr Cosgrove.

    Tonight’s Line Up:

    SLONINA
    COTTER
    ROBERTS
    PINES
    DE GEUIGNEY
    COSGROUE
    LOFTHOUSE
    CRAIG
    EARL
    KEILLOR-DUNN
    CONNELL

SUBS KILLIP, RUSSELL, O'KEEFFE, BENSON, JALO, MARSH,
    & HUMPHRYS.

No Adam Phillips in the Barnsley squad. Stephen Humphrys and Corey O'Keeffe drop to bench. Kyran Lofthouse makes his first home league start with Donovan Pines and Sam Cosgrove coming in.

Pleased to see Lofthouse starting he’s deserved it.

    1st Half.

On that showing we are 2 games away from Darrell Clarke getting the sack.

I have to agree. Where is the attacking football DC said he would bring to the club? The football we are playing is as bad if not worse than under Collins!!
There is little to no attacking intent, everything goes back, back again and then further back, the passing is awful.
There isn't many supporters there but the ones that are, are making their feelings known, especially towards Slonina slowing everything down and his awful distribution, surely there is someone at the club that can teach him to kick a ball within the white lines?
If this continues I agree with YN Clarkes days are numbered.

    Dire!

Attendance looks lowest for years and makes the stadium look quite huge.

Little wonder there's no attacking intent he's playing four centre backs and two defensive midfield players ............. At home to Wycombe !!!!
