    Deleted Posts

You might have noticed a small number of deleted posts recently. Someone has asked by pm whatÂ’s happening

After MA and Mac demonstrated their frustration at forum behaviour (and I include myself) I thought IÂ’d better do some moderating, so, in the absence of a written jd IÂ’ve decided to delete any posts that

Include name calling (I think 3 so far)
Include unfounded accusations or intimations of ‘isms’ (1 so far)
Demonstrate inability to let an issue be dropped after incessant toing and froing
Include anything that might get anyone into bother away from the forum
Piss me off (mainly but not limited to TTRs comments on footy threads)
Are responses (even good ones) to threads that have been deleted. IÂ’ve done this once, sorry rA one of yours
A long standing undertaking from me is if I transgress MA can be my moderator by pm

So there you go letÂ’s keep it clean

Wearing my "Mod/Admin" hat from other forums in the past, you might like to include deleting posts that could lead to civil and/or criminal proceedings against one or more of the poster themselves, you as Admin and FM as board owners.

Feel free to ignore the advice but my recommendation would be that you don't, for your own best will.

Yes, thanks. I meant that in my fourth point, not made very clearly and I’ll keep my eyes peeled

Nb all I’ve noticed that some deleted posts delete totally rather than show as ‘deleted’ with a reason, according to which OS I’m using. One such happened this am for name calling if the poster was wondering

To reassure some of you who are unhappy with the more active moderation over the past few weeks, MA has volunteered to be a second set of eyes on anything I think is out of line, and we'll take action based on agreement between us. That doesn't mean MA disagrees with either my criteria for deletion/amendment or the deletions/amendments made so far but it does mean there's an overview prior to any action taken

The moderator moderated....but who moderates the moderator of the moderator? In a forum of about 10 people this sounds like overkill

If it placates the vocal minority the overkill will be worth it

Not sure why it’s being discussed on this thread but this new ‘active moderation’ has worked a treat hasn’t it?
Never known so much bitching and backbiting as there is at the moment…and why? Because apparently two of the forum’s more sensible posters mentioned to AF that things were becoming unpleasant so he decided to act.
Unfortunately AF your version of ‘active moderation’ appears to have made things infinitely worse…largely because, unlike a good moderator/arbitrator/referee you are unable to disguise your prejudices and have confused fairness and firmness with high handedness so that everyone on here knows who you are sympathetic towards and, in turn, antagonistic towards.

The one good thing to have come out of all this, imo, is that MA has been ‘granted’ some sort of role as regards ‘moderation’ That makes sense, not least because he is far less likely than you to indulge in the sort of behaviour you claim to want to put an end and because he is a poster I suspect to be respected by just about everyone on here.

So…a simple request, just like MA and mac made. Can we stop the juvenile and petty dictator stuff where you determine what and when certain subjects can and cannot be talked about - the simple truth is that threads ‘succeed or sink’ according to the level of interest they generate - and get back to you (hopefully now with the guidance of MA) moderating more in the style of Ramondo rather than Rats…i.e. you ensure that there is no one being victimised on here and nothing written that is either illegal, libellous or beyond the bounds of decency…because that’s all a good moderator is actually responsible for?
