I don’t know what our record low attendance is but surely there’s going to be less than 500 there? Was going to go safe with a thousand but that seems way too high when I think about it.

Lowest modern one I've seen regularly quoted is 2531 against Rochdale in 1977 but I'm sure I was sat on the shale kop against Workington in the League Cup when the crowd was under 2000 (lost 1-3)

To be honest I will never be critical of how low the attendance was or is , if I am not attending myself then I am part of the reason why the gate is low but I will never criticise people who stay away only those who stay away and then moan how low the crowd is , I will not be attending , to me these games are like friendlies and testimonials in my book and I do not go to those but the main reason is that my view on the competition changed once it became a play thing for the premier league clubs , when it was just for the bottom 2 divisions the concept of the competition was great , a cup to be played for between the lower 2 leagues with the prize for the fans being to watch your side play at wembley in a genuine cup final was fantastic but allowing reserve sides in it from the elite totally devalued it for me and my interest in it is something short of zero. On the subject of low attendances , after we got relegated to the 4 th division in the early seventies we had a couple of matches where the crowd was under 2000 and yours truly duly attended but alas I cannot for the life of me think who we were playing but I am sure someone into stats will know the answer, happy days !!
