    A crucial run

After the three sprint blocks to international breaks, I always feel the next chunk - particularly when there's no winter break - is when the groupings in the table begin to move apart a little and targets from the season become clear. With our 1/2 games in hand, we face an eye-watering 12 matches in 49 days from Ross County to Easter Road. Safe to say, emerge through that still looking strong and it's party time.

An interesting quirk does mean we can break it down though, Xmas has kindly (!) given us an OF double-header, Tynecastle then the Sheep at home. Before that though, there's six games (three home and away) we'd consider winnable. Eight points would be par but would leave us vulnerable with the next four...come out slightly ahead with 10 though and I think we're not just looking for sixth this season but fifth. Come out slightly worse and I don't think we'll collapse completely like last season but we're probably looking at drifting towards lower rather than upper midtable.

We basically know for sure all six games will be close to coin tosses, who's brave enough to put a number on it? I've had a nice relaxing start to the day so will open the bidding with the desired 10...

I don't think your estimate of 10 points from the next six is unreasonable. We are a third of the way toward the split and well ahead of even the most optimistic expectation. Long may it last.
