Northampton away saturday, i remember going there, our first ever away league game, shaking with excitement and anxiety.

United had a Busby babe playing for them yes a Busby babe, not only that but a black one, he made one first team appearence for man u, then York, United. He was part of the Busby team.

Dennis Walker scored our first ever away league goal in that game, at the County ground, a ground from the far past, excellent in its uniqueness. One side had no stands, bordering on the cricket ground.

And i knew Dennis, he came to St Bedes in the afternoon to take games, he thought i could play and invited me to training. He ended up player manager for Poole town, eventually became manager at the Arndale centre in Manchester just before the terrorists blew it up, he was on duty at the time and got blown up, smashed into a wall, not evacuating.

He took the call seriously and called the police. Always had a smile, easy to like, easy to get on with, his trick was nutmegging, full of fun.

Rest well mate.

How things change, a different world back then. My interest is only about reminiscence, and memories, and of course United losing.
