    Has Evan’s missed the point?

Interesting quote from the tiser. Evan’s says TS is backing him and hasn’t said he needs to win 4 out of the next 5 games, only that performances must improve over the next 4 or 5 games. Sounds like the same thing to me.

    Exact wording is

?If he was having shadows of doubts, he would be telling me that I've got X number of games. He's never, ever mentioned that.??..

??.?His words were: ?I don't need to see us win three or four games out of the next five or six, I need to see the performances in the next four or five games improving.??

    Hmmmm

No he is just spinning the story, to take the immediate pressure off himself. basically he has 5 or 6 games to show improvement and get some points on the board. TS will not accept us in the bottom 4 for more than 1 game, so if we drop in i suspect the 6 games could be shorter.
Evans says everyone is fit if not match fit and the training facilities are excellent, so his excuses are running out. We have to show a big improvement over the next two games, because his time is running out no matter what he says in the press. lets hope he does it and gives us a better footballing xmas.

An other interesting comment from SE in the Advertiser following his conversation with TS is "Our chairman wants us to be strong. He wants the performances to be better. He's actually told me to be more of the Steve Evans I was the first time around. I was probably stronger and more of a disciplinarian then than I've been this time.
It was activated from Monday, I've kicked it in.
Two or three of the experienced lads came up and said 'Fantastic Gaffer. We've got clarity in what we're doing.'
"I'm not above criticism. The chairman has noticed that I need to tweak certain things. As my line manager he's given his opinion and I will always take my chairman's advice. He wants me to be assertive rather than aggressive - more assertive, more controlled."

So I'm guessing we'll initially see more of him on the touchline, waving his arms about and screaming at the players before receiving an inevitable touchline ban and being banished to the stands.
Whether this old/new version of SE heralds an upturn in results remains to be seen.

Don’t know about anyone else but I disagree with TS I’m not bothered about the performances a couple of gritty 1 0s will do me it’s all about the points for me at the minute let’s worry about the performance when we’re further up the table(if)

I think that is Evans spin again. TS probably said that but I suspect he commented on the results and league position as well. This emphasis on performance in the Evans interview gives him some grace if we play better in the next couple of games but don't get wins, he knows he could be out of work in january if we don't start winning games in the league.

We could certainly do with a few wins no matter how they are achieved but if we keep playing the predictable, shapeless, hoofball style it's difficult to see where they'll come from.
If TS really has said he wants the performances to be better and isn't too bothered about the results it just shows how out of touch he is with the feelings of most fans.
Because we're in such a mess I'm prepared to bet that even if the team play better but lose against Lincoln the boos will ring round NYS, SE will scuttle off down the tunnel and the level on the toxicometer will go up a few notches.

One of the major differences I've noticed between the past and the present Evans' reigns is the reaction of players after the half time break. Previously, if the first half had been poor, you could guarantee that the performance would be upped several notches following, what I imagine, was firm encouragement from the manager. These days, the performance remains the same or even deteriorates!

It is interesting that in the article Evan?s says "Two or three of the experienced lads came up and said: 'Fantastic, Gaffer. We've got clarity in what we're doing.'

So who are the experienced players, Macdonald, jch, Hugill maybe Rafferty? I wonder what the younger players think about a more assertive Evan?s in the coming weeks, Gen z do not tend to respond well to assertive older bosses. Also it implies that before this they didn?t know what they were doing, certainly from what we have seen it looks like there has been a lack of clarity and coercion, not bad to get to the end of November and only just get clarity on what is expected.
