O/T:- Refs communications?

Anybody know, out of curiosity......

At our level is the refs mic live all the time?

Can the linos hear the refs heavy breathing as the ref runs up and down the pitch all the time?

Do the linos have some sort of press to talk on their ear piece/battery pack, if they need to attract the ref's attention?

Haven't really paid much attention to it at our games, but just watching Kettering v Donny made me wonder.

That's why I went with assistant, but secretly it will always be "Linesman" in my head. Hang on, someone banging on the door!
