    Cairdie

First played this course in 1973 , admittedly not played it for over 15 years now , but for the SNP cooncil to close it is a disgrace, all it needs is to be better organised , and if the police could keep the Rally bikes of the greens it might encourage more people to use it , as it?s a shortish course its ideal for beginners or the elderly

Not a course I've played for 20 odd years but real shame.

And bizzare the BF castle gets kept before it.

Dundee is in some state financially, got a rust belt us town state look and feel aboot it.

It's no helped by having the tightest city boundaries in the UK but the cretins that run Dundee council are absolute charlatans.....mind you Angus no any better just slightly cheaper

It?s not a stretch to say that every Dundonian of 30+ that plays golf learnt to play it on Cairdie and Campy.

Imagine supporting and voting for a party that?s responsible for closing them.

Pretty much this. Cutting Dundee's population far too drastically. When you look at how far out bits of the sheep dump stretches, our 'wee city' is ridiculous. And our nationalist led council. We will soon see how their leader behaves with the new stadium plans.

Two old golfers bemoaning the loss of a golf course - that neither has bothered to play on for 15 and 20 years. Seems the closure is fully justified then?

If I had my way every golf course in the country would be closed - waste of a good walk IMO.

My sporting abilities lie elsewhere, was never a good footballer and rugby's for nut grabbing, ear nibbling fruits so pursued other avenues.

And apologies if you were offended in any way by my use of the term 'old golfers'. I would politely ask that you don't report this as a non clime hate offence.

In my opinion the cost of a season ticket and a round of golf at Caird Park is too cheap compared to other golf courses in the area.
There was a post on another local forum about the SNP councillors voting to close Caird Park Golf Course which stated that the person in charge of running the Olympia Leisure Centre which has been closed for a few years is receiving a salary of ?120k per annum. If this is correct this person should be redeployed to work elsewhere in Dundee City Council who bankroll Dundee Leisure and Culture or made redundant.
A year or so after closing Camperdown golf course Councillor John Alexander stated that the council were going to reopen part of Camperdown golf course as a 9 hole golf course plus they were going to install a state of the art driving range. As usual the SNP run Dundee City Council have not opened the 9 hole golf course at Camperdown nor built a new driving range. In my opinion the Dundee City councillors are worse than useless.
