Yes, I think we do.
Great player though he is, I don't think the captaincy works. Trippier-certainly the player of two years ago-is a huge miss, possibly more than we'd realised.
Wish we could get the old Trippier back into the team. I think hes a better leader than any of the others...

Good point Vike. Enough of the Ashworth hilarity. We aren't pulling up any trees ourselves and for me its been the most puzzling season that I can remember. We were shiite before the takeover, that was expected but I go into games these days not knowing what the fk is going to happen.
The talent is there to be better, injuries and fatigue are ruled out so it must be motivation.
Whether thats a EH fault regarding motivation, tactics, team selection
or player attitude, are heads being turned.....I don't know, I really don't but they should show more on the field based on past record and history. I can't believe the Palace defender debacle in the summer is the reason.
Maybe a leader is whats needed, a veteran warrior with a track record of success. A Tripps could be the problem but these lads are experienced enough now for someone to step up. Could Schar be that guy?
Perhaps I am totally misreading it.
Schar would have been perfect had he been younger, but he could be replaced in the Jan transfer. There are no outstanding candidates tbh, maybe Botman ? Captain has to be a certain starter so Botman fits there but??. We can?t really buy a new player and immediately make him captain can we? A warrior is a different matter, a Batty, Rob Lee, Nolan, got to be one out there
We def miss a leader in the mold of trips - with all the experience he had.
Bruno is good but he's a passionate, lead by the heart leader when we really need a old hand, seen it all before logical leader - at the minute.
I would still play Trippier
Just put a long winded post on Facebook on someone saying we should sell to City?
We so poor at breaking down a low block (which is why we look better against the likes of Liverpool) that selling a player with the vision of Bruno is nuts? because most teams we face will be setting up that way.
I?d agree that he?s not been at his usual levels this season, but I worry that is the captains armband making him think he needs to do everything and be everywhere? and in his case I think it?s a case of ?less is more? or we need a different captain.
Working out how to play Tonali as a regular starter to take some of the work off his plate (imo) will help a lot too. It will also help us get the ball up the pitch quicker than Longstaff?s backwards and sideways passing? because at the minute we are so slow getting up the pitch that teams are organised by the time we get the ball in the final third.
Defensive issues need to be sorted too, we got into the CL on a solid defense? we?ve been poor without Botman for a long time now? as much as we all love BDB his pace is too slow for someone who wants to spend so much time up the pitch. Also he?s getting caught watching the ball to much then not being quick enough to recover.
I don?t think there only 1 thing wrong at the moment, defense needs sorting, RW needed sorting, Bruno needs to do less to achieve more, and if I?m honest there?s nothing other than him trying to do everything that makes him stand out as a captain? so honestly I?d be looking for someone else to take over the armband and just let Bruno concentrate on his game and what he should be doing? his effort is never lacking, just he?s being spread too thin all over the pitch.
That?s my (long winded 😉take on it anyway.
