Thread: Celtic (H)

  1. #1

    Celtic (H)

After watching the Well highlights and in disbelief at how poor all the goals were that we conceded, we have Celtic on Sunday which nobody outwith the most optimistic of Arabs will give us a prayer in.
I was a ****ager the last time I attended a United win against that lot. Still have PTSD from the 0-9.
Does anyone believe we can get a result or will a narrow defeat be the best we can hope for? What should the team and tactics be?
For some weird, masochistic reason I'm strangely looking forward to this one. Probably because there's next to no pressure.

If we play with the same passion desire pace and commitment that we showed at Motherwell we will probably lose by 6 or 7.

We need a completely different mindset and lineup to be anywhere near competitive.
We simply have to go 451, no debates, no buts, 451 and we have to work like tigers. We have to show them zero respect.
The worry for me is that Newco can ram into them like they did at Hampden but if we do it we'll lose a player or two. But if you stand off and admire Celtic they will bury you. Time and time again.

Only plus is that Will Ferry is back.
Gallagher has been great until recently but Graham should start this one.

    Walton
    Strain Adegboyega Graham Ferry
    Luca Babunski Svelj Holt Trapanovski
    Dalby

Reality is we can have everything right on the day and still lose comfortably, the strength of options they have is huge and the 5 subs only make that more obvious

They've won their last 10 away games in the league scoring 30 conceding 3

McCowan was cup tied yesterday so will be fresh and can see him starting, they have others who can come in and do the same

Definitely would not be starting Babunski in this one, really could have done with Doc as an option the fact Ferry will be back is important

    Walton
    Adeboyega Gallagher Graham
    Strain Luca Holt Sevelj Ferry
    Dalby Trapanowski

I went for 451 to reduce the threat from the flanks and crowd the midfield.

Full backs operating as full backs to stop that threat Celtic have getting in behind defences. Each fullback in my lineup has cover in front of him, Stephenson on the right and Trapanovski on the left.
Holt part of a 3 across the middle to deny space for the likes of McGregor to play through us. Babunski despite being off the pace recently does have the ability to surprise Celtic with a ball into Dalby or Trapanovski.

I don't expect Goodwin to use 451 though.

To be honest we'll probably lose whatever formation, the main thing is that we play with high energy, high commitment to close them on the ball and compete physically by putting in hard challenges. And where's Docherty when you really need him...

    I'd go 10-0-0.

    0-0 draw.

    Get it done Goodwin 🫣

    No expectations

    3-4-3 might help defensively

    Walton

    Manny Dec G Ross G

    Strain Holt Sevelj Ferry

    Luca S Dalby Miller T

A line up like this at least gives lots of players that can defend !!

Only about 250 seats available in the home ends, could be like the Sevco game where there were a lot more home fans than usual for them visiting, obviously depends on how many season ticket holders give it a miss, hopefully not too many

Either way they will be counted, like every other club does (hence the funs 5000+ attendances )

    I'll guess around 12800

Apparently that’s Moult out again with a shoulder injury FFS. We really haven’t had much luck with injuries this season. Mind you if the same had been happening last season, the consequences of having Docherty, Moult and Sibbald out long term would have been too frightening to contemplate………….
