    Sellick (a)

So this rearranged game was always the one that caused the congestion issue, a ridiculous time to be scheduled but nothing we can do now

Not enough recovery time from Sunday and then not enough recovery time for Paisley while they have a full week free

Then we have a full 8 days to recover for the cup game, before Sevco at home and Killie away rounds off a tough few weeks

Thankfully we have done a lot of good work to give us a cushion that will hopefully see us still in top 6 coming out of this run

If we are to have a lean spell is going to be now, my hope for tomorrow is we avoid the GD that we've built up very well over the season taking a big hit

Don't envy the manager this week

Team is difficult as he's used a back 4 which worked as Ibrox and home to Celtic/Sheep but didn't work at dens or yesterday when we switched to it

I'd like to see something like if going a 4

    Walton
    Strain Gallagher Graham Ferry
    Stephenson Holt
    Fotheringham Thomson Middleton
    Van Der Sande

That's the shape we used at home to them only with a few minor personnel changes , will need to make use of subs with Manny, Sevelj and Doc coming on etc

    One eye on Paisley

Given the number of games and the tiredness kicking in it's a complete lottery.
    Bank of 4
    Bank of 5
    Forward together back together
Ask Meshak and Trapanovski to take turns of running beyond the back 4 and ask VDS to find them. But any team we put out is likely going to get a hiding because of our small number of key players now feeling the pace of the festive season.

    Walton
    Strain Gallagher Graham Ferry
    Meshak Luca Odada Holt Trapanovski
    Van der Sande

But I might change my mind later

    Strain Docherty VDS Sevelj Ferry
    Trapanovski

A back 4 which can be a back 6 with two defensive midfielders with VDS in the centre. Have Trapanovski through the middle with his pace. Could replace Trapanovski with Kai or Middleton once his race is run.

Won't matter what we do tbh they are going to be going all out to make up for not beating us last time and I fear it's gonna be ugly 😬😧

Please excuse me while i take leave of any sensible thinking!

Im trying not to tempt fate here but want to put more effort into Saturday than Wednesday and see if a similar team as the last Ceptic meeting can do a job! Was thinking if Richards could be given a chance, but.....

    Walton
    Strain, Gallagher, Graham, Ferry
    Fotheringham, Stephenson, Sevelj, Middleton,
    Thomson, VDS.

That would have Dalby, Holt, Doc, Adey, Traps Babs and Stirton to choose from to shore things up if required.

Id like to rest players for this and get fresh legs in the team. Problem is we are bit limited on what we can do due to strength of squad. Cash demands on fans with the amount of games this time of year is utter ridiculous too, especially when we had to keep having international breaks for a diddy international tournament at start of season.

Im not on here to pick team or tactics, just want the players who start the game do their best and compete, I know it will be a difficult game. Also happy with the fans reaction at the end of the hearts game, not the usual booing and moaning but a subdued appreciation of what Jim and the team have done this season.

We weren’t all big fans of it but in all honesty I wished there had been a winter break this year. If memory serves then timing wise the way it previously worked I think the Derby would have been the last game with the Scottish Cup the first game back. I think we’re at a point where it definitely would have been beneficial rather than detrimental.

Main issue is this rearranged game, there's must have been other alternatives

Wouldn't have been that bad having a week to get ready for St Mirren, now we just need to put all we can into these two, even a point at St Mirren would be something before a nice rest for the cup game

Then we have Rangers at home early on a Sunday when they are at Old Trafford the Thurs, that's not a write off for us

Not sure there would have been many others TBH. They’ve had Champions League games (which restart next month I think?) and currently there’s every possibility they’ll get though that so then have games in to March. There’s zero chance of us both being free on subsequent Scottish Cup weekends as notwithstanding ourselves it’s a very unlikely scenario that they’ll not still be in that. So all of a sudden, it’s getting closer and closer to the split and after the fun and games with the Waterpark up the road last season, I suspect the SPFL would be placing the emphasis on this match getting played sooner, rather than later. Good news is though that after Wednesday, only 2 of our remaining 11 pre split fixtures will be against the gruesome twosome with the one you’d particularly like to have at home is indeed at Tannadice.
