OT - online conversation, your views on the meaning, please.

A report on the outcome of the recent Trump/UK/EU/Ukraine mentioned the possibility of boots on the ground as a peace force after the war.

One response was "Disgusting sending our people to be killed fighting for corrupt foreign and UK politicians."

I pointed out that what is being said by Starmer et al is not to send soldiers to fight in the war but to send troops in as a peacekeeping force AFTER the war.

The comeback was that they hadn't said that and that I was just like a politician, twisting people's words.

I pointed out that the implication was in their post and they might have meant "it would be disgusting if... ", in which case I would agree with them.

What meaning do you guys attach to "Disgusting sending our people to be killed fighting for corrupt foreign and UK politicians."

A very quick response from me, just on the words quoted: the respondent has preconceptions/POVs about 'the world' that precludes him/her providing a coherant response. I respond little enough to political comments, I'd drop this one stone dead as IMO the respondent is beyond being reasoned with. I see 1000 a day of this sort of response on fb

I wouldn't lose any sleep over someone else's interpretation of a sentence on the internet, there'll be enough for us to lose sleep over on friday.

    Edit. What Andy said.

Don't worry, I've left the conversation, just reporting something else that was written
