I think at R4, prem ground and televised means there will be VAR
No Var at glebe park tonight though
Going to be tricky match on Monday - could be classic. Have to hope we come out on top

Here we go again then. This will not be easy, they will be well up for it following a couple of weeks ago and on the back of two credible results against the erse cheeks. However, while as per they?re currently entering their ‘we’re going to give the DABS a hiding’ mode, they are perhaps forgetting that we will play nothing like what Celtic did on Tuesday- I can see us once again, particularly first half, sitting in and allowing us to come at them leaving no gaps for them to exploit. It will still however be tight, perhaps just a goal in it, perhaps even ET but if it does go to ET then given our levels of fitness I can foresee only one winner.
BTW will there be VAR on for this?

They will be gunning for us and let's be fair....this is their cup final. Simon Murray will be diving about like a Ginger Foot Headed Angry Gremlin...desperate to make himself a Fun Legend. I think we need to play him at his own game and be throwing ourselves to the ground at the slightest bit of contact. He is a red card waiting to happen. A tough match, but if we play to our abilities...very winnable. I just have a horrible feeling that our luck is going to have to run out at some point. I would still take finishing above them in the league as our priority but ideally we can do both!

Post from the Scottish cup from weeks ago, not no replays anymore though
Haven't beaten Utd in the big cup since the mid 1950's
The four ties pre 1960, each of them Utd were in the second tier and very much a smaller club and them top tier established club and huge favourites
All 4 ties needed a replay to decide, 3 they won, 1 was won by us
7 ties since then have been won by Utd, 5 while in the same division , including the only competitive derby outside the city, 1987 Semi Final at Tynecastle
Last meeting was 2013 at Dens, when GMS got the winner and caused a meltdown with his shhhh to the Cox funsters and that was the first big cup meeting since the 1991 tie at Tannadice
Overall
Played 18 games across 10 ties
United wins 8 goals 30
7 draws
Fun wins 3 goals 21
My worry is that JG overthinks the tactics and tries to be a bit clever. I'm hoping that the 1 game at a time mentality has stuck and that the players go all out to get the win. If all our players have a decent game, then we should have enough to win this..but any drop in standards or tactics and we might struggle. All joking aside, there really isn't much between the 2 teams and they will be chomping at the bit to get one over on us, especially after the way the last game ended and how robbed they felt. Hopefully we have a new player in the ranks to freshen things up a bit!
The new signings have helped them and added to what was already a bigger squad than ours, it's gave a boost to the ones they already had
They definitely got the better of the midfield first half last game, they play with two natural midfielders as wbs just now (Mulligan and Roberson) who help Sylla and Cameron (might be Garza instead of Cameron like the other night)
However we play different to the opponents they just played, agree hopefully doesn't over think it but the 4 at back didn't work so it's likely he'll stick to three
I'd go either (based on I think Moult isn't ready to start and better to have coming on since there might be extra time/pens)

In the first Derby at Tannadice VAR somehow missed an absolute stone wall United penalty yet awarded them one that the ref originally awarded a corner kick for.Things never got much better in Derby 2 at Dens when yet another corner on the field was turned into yet another Funster penalty.
I'm no hoping our luck holds out i'm hoping we get some on Monday, some fans appear brainwashed by Funster and Hibee Forum sickness,FACT.

They're a strange bunch. A couple of decent results and out comes the "we're going to hump them" stuff. I suppose desperation could do that to you. And make no mistake they are desperate.
Agree with what was said about the Ginger One, he seems a wee bit stressed out to say the least, in danger of doing a blood vessel if he's not careful. These last few games he's been very prone to a dive.
We'll need to play better than we did in the league game there and tbh that won't be hard. Saw them off when not at our best. If we're focused and do the simple things well there's no reason why we won't be in the next round.
Despite their talk of us getting luck of draw and this and that, the factual evidence is that Utd get much more away draws and more draws against top flight opponents, especially in the last twenty years in the Scottish Cup
In that time the fun have played 17 games against top flight teams, winning just 2, one away to Motherwell in 2008 and one vs the Sheep at home in 2014, losing 11
United have faced top flight opponents 40 times in the same time since 2005, winning 17 with 15 lost
The fun have not won a home tie in regular time since a win over Dumbarton in 2016, in 9 home ties since the only wins were AET over league one and two sides bonnyrigg and airdrie
In our last 7 away ties against top flight opponents while we were also top flight, we've won 6 losing only at Celtic park
Rangers 0-2 United
Dundee 1-2 United
Inverness 0-5 United
Motherwell 1-2 United
Celtic 4-0 United
R County 2-3 United
Aberdeen 0-3 United
We don't lose often away in the big cup while in the top flight regardless of what division the opponent is, QoS last season on pens is the only instance of us going out the big cup to a team from a lower division since Ayr in 2002 in the replay at Somerset when they were a really good cup side
Hopefully under JG that trend continues
