There's an interesting line from Wimmer in an interview he gave to his local media group re how the contract came about.

Wimmer: Die Vereine im Vereinigten K?nigreich legen viel Wert auf Datenscouting und meine Daten in Stuttgart und Wien waren sehr gut. Daraufhin wurden sie auf mich aufmerksam.

Clubs in the UK put a lot of value on data scouting and my data in Stuttgart and Vienna was very good. That's when they became aware of me.

Now I suppose that could mean we became aware of him among the 100 applications but a normal reading certainly makes it sound like we found him rather than the other way around...and it also begs the question of just what data metrics we used.

The whole thing is here should anyone want to translate it: https://www.pnp.de/lokales/landkreis...rwell-18024103

I get the feeling it's another rolling contract though that's not explicit, he shrugs off the reasons for SK's departure and the rest is standard stuff.

    Interesting. Here's the translation.

Perfectly trimmed seven-day beard, a concentrated look combined with a toothpaste smile: For his new coaching and managerial job at Scottish first division club FC Motherwell, for the first time in a double function, the 44-year-old Dingolfing football coach Michael Wimmer has also changed visually. Nine months after his release from Austrian cult club Austria Wien, the Lower Bavarian is now heading to football-mad Scotland.

Wimmer prevailed against more than 100 applicants and - after his break - is bubbling over with zest for action. With Motherwell, he wants to be among the top six teams in the table after the main round. How he got this job and how he is looking forward to his new mission on the island, he reveals in an exclusive interview with Mediengruppe Bayern.

Mr. Wimmer, almost nine months have passed since your release from Austria Wien. Now you will be the new coach at Scottish first division club FC Motherwell. How much are you looking forward to this adventure?
Michael Wimmer: Since I was out for nine months, it is of course very large. I had been restless since January and I really wanted to return to the training ground. I was then also on the road a lot and I have always emphasized that I am enthusiastic about foreign countries. It brings so many different facets with it, for example getting to know a new culture and language. That's why I'm really happy that I've now found a new challenge in Scotland at a traditional club.
In recent months, you have watched many games live in Belgium, Austria and England. Do you feel prepared for the new task?
Wimmer: Absolutely. In the last few weeks, I've watched a lot of games and been in close contact with some of my coaching colleagues. Most recently, I was with Thorsten Fink in Belgium and on the other hand, I was also able to spend a lot of time with my family. Thus, the batteries are fully charged again.

How did the contact with the Scottish first division club come about?
Wang: The clubs in the UK attach great importance to data scouting and my data in Stuttgart and Vienna was very good. Then they became aware of me. Afterwards, they visited each other and sniffed each other. I was given a really good feeling right from the start. The club made it clear to me that they wanted me and my assistant coach Ahmet Koc. This trust convinced me in the end.

Her predecessor Stuart Kettlewell resigned because of insults from his own fans. How do you try to get the fans on your side?
Wimmer: I want to convince the fans of my work with honesty and authenticity. In general, I want to give everything and show the fans that I'm there for the club and the players 24/7. I love working for traditional clubs and I also know that with successful work you can of course quickly get the fans on your side.

How do you assess the level of the league in general?
Wang: This may be a little too early, but it's definitely a very physical league. It's a very intense football that I personally love and like very much. With power and enthusiasm I also imagine playing with Motherwell. So it fits quite well and the league is very exciting because a lot of young talents have the ambition to recommend themselves for higher tasks.

What is the short-term plan with Motherwell and can you imagine staying there longer?
Wang: There are no thoughts about when it might end. The task in Motherwell is a challenge that will take time. Of course, I hope to get it from the club, because I want to implement my idea of football and that doesn't happen overnight. It is also important that everything fits off the pitch. My family, especially my wife, is fully behind this new task and that was very important to me from the beginning when the talks began. Without the full backing of my family, it wouldn't work and my credo has always been: Family first.
