Will Steve Evans get it right next season?

Like him or loathe him it is pretty obvious SE will get another chance to at least make the play-offs next season. But will he succeed? I'll start the debate. I think we will be better but to what extent I'm not sure. The problems will be in the squad structure. Haks and Humphreys will be difficult to replace and there are a whole host of 30 odd year olds with another year to go.

Getting it right may mean different things to people. To me, personally, getting into the playoffs or even going up isn't necessarily getting it right if we do it with the current approach, because we're starting 2026/27 with yet another blank canvas, limited budget, and a manager who takes too many punts on players he signs.

I'd rather see us finish the season in 9th or 10th, with a younger nucleus, having watched steady improvement through the season. That, for me, is getting it right far more than a random bunch of 30 odd year olds, contracts up in the summer, landing in 2nd.

Personally I?m with Ulley on this.
It?s not necessarily about going up it?s about getting that style of play an identity of playing. Would be good to see some young players coming through who we can have an affinity with.
So it?s a no from me as I don?t think Evans is here to try and do that.

He will get it right. Then left. Then up. Then down.

It'll be the sat navs fault when we navigate our way to 12th.

We will lose 2 of our better players who won't put up with being publicly shamed any more by him.

Then he will use the same scattergun approach to recruitment. Unfortunately like last time he won't be able to in effect trial players on short term contracts like last time when he was successful so we will be stuck with any ****e players for at least 6 months.

Any new players will not play for him even if they are decent.

Tactics (!?)won't change, young uns won't be blooded. TS will chuck a lot of money down the pan again. Dunno how he can't see that myself.

Mid table again next season with no progress on or off the pitch.

No. Think he's only here to steward the chairman's centenary year swansong before he sells the club. Suspect the brief was to avoid relegation this season.Evans will get the same instructions next time and to avoid any investment. What supporters think is academic.

SE will never get it right at rufc because were not sure, as fans what we want.
Some want promotion whilst others want stability.
Some want a youth system other want higher calibre players.
Most want what we can't afford or sustain.
The new fans want to be in the championship whilst others want a team to identify with.

The club needs a reboot rather than promotion straight away. Let's build up the youth section with players that can realistically come through the ranks.
Sadly, it won't happen under SE.

Evans is hitting absolutely none of those, despite their apparent variety. Some achievement.

You are right the fans are not sure what we want. It changes from one fan to the next however the person that needs to identify a formula he needs to buy the correct players.
If his aim was to do that this season he has failed so let?s hope he can do it next.

There is no doubt that the structure we had before which was to buy cheap and make a profit has been forgotten even thought the club say it hasn?t. We have no players left at the end of next season that are here now.

It?s sad that we have lost our team connection as fans. We just feel sorry for players being called out. I don?t want that and I doubt many fans do!

So i think we will have a good season next season and we will be higher in the league.
I do not think we will be any closer to what the club say they want!

I?ll support the team and the club but I long for the day Evans is no longer our manager.
