    Conor Hourihane new HC

    Uninspiring appointment.
Which puts a doubt over me buying a new ST.
I was wrong about Wilson and Hecky being appointed from within.
    I hope I?m wrong now.

Well, we wanted someone who knows the English game, so we definitely got that.
I hope for his sake he gets some backing. he knows the situation as regards finances, and still took the job, then he is backing himself 1000%. Theres some positives, and at least theres the fact that he knows, and has seen our deficiencies in this season.
    Down to the board now.

    Agree.
Especially that bit about it being down to the board now.

A very inspiring appointment , he is showing green shoots whilst cutting his teeth and as in the past I always feel we do better when we appoint from within and at least Barnsley fans know what we are getting instead of the usual uninspiring dross we have employed from the backwaters of some low European league , I will be popping down next week to renew our three season tickets and look forward now to the next season, I also look forward to all the critics of this appointment who are hesitant about renewing taking the opportunity of staying away , let the Oakwell faithful ( those of us who are left ) get behind Conner and the boys . I also believe with our financial problems this move makes a lot of sense ,no annual compensation to pay out for a change and the guy now in charge knowing all the players inside out , hopefully the list of players moving on should soon be formulated allowing Conner to plan his preseason , the big question mark of course will be the summer recruitment and window , we know the purse is tight but some form of backing is required to allow him to form a competitive squad , anyway interesting times ahead , I feel inspired !!!

A decent appointment in my opinion given the financial position we are in.
Looking forward to seeing Conor allowing the natural progression from the younger players making the first team squad.

He has a very good insight on what is required well before the start of next season.
Good luck to him, I wish him all the success in his coaching carrier.

The punchline is: if he fails he will go, if he is a success he will go.

As expected and no surprise to the majority of us other than the usual suspect .

Allan Clarke , Norman Hunter , Danny Wilson , Paul Heckingbottom , four promotions with rookie Managers / HC .

    I rest my case .

Another Klaus Winkelschmidtzer from WSG Tirol is so last year . .

I think it?s a good appointment. What we saw from Conor as a player and what we are hearing now, he?s clearly very hard working and very driven to succeed.

I?ve read some comments previously about how we appoint ?yes men? who do as the board say in terms of formations and tactics. Well, without ever having spoken to Hourihane, I can pretty much guarantee he won?t ever be a ?yes man?.

Now the focus should solely be on getting this squad better so the board need to pull their finger out.

Yep - we have to give Conor the benefit of doubt.
    Give him a chance.

It?s a major surprise this appointment - as the club said it wanted to get back to the Barnsley Way:
Which as described by the club means - every player except the goalkeeper able to run forward with the ball.
    A 343 or 3412 formation.
    High press throughout the team.

If the Bolton game is anything to go by then that blueprint set down by James and Patrick has been abandoned - and moved to a 433 with a flat back 4.
So what does this mean for recruitment?
Are they now starting to look for full backs and wingers ?
    It?s going to be interesting.

We fans ain't daft, well, the vast majority of us at least! It still doesn't change the situation at the club in terms of being successful but it could be a positive step. That change needs to occur in the philosophy of the clubs hierarchy. Connor is loved here and the supporters, I expect, will cut him more slack than his previous incumbents. Especially now the vast majority of supporters realise the constraints that every coach employed by us has to work under here.

I wish him all the very best. It's a huge challenge for the blowk. We need a different direction and some stability. It's as clear as the nose on Poya Asbaghis face. Mr Hourihane (as others before him) deserves better than to become another one season managerial statistic to cover up the incompetence and delusion the board have.

The board have never mentioned " The Barnsley Way "
