    Declan Gallagher

Press now running the story that his contract isn't being renewed. Nothing on the official yet but not really the kind of news we want leaking before these important 5 games.

Yes that's surprising news that we aren't offering him a year and bad timing for it to leak, someone we are relying on in these games to do their best

If we aren't renewing his deal then we must be confident of getting in a couple good CBs as Gallagher isn't easily replaced imo

Surely a value in having that experience even as a squad player, we will get injuries and suspensions etc

This is a bit like the Scott McMann news, now we know the reason was we had an upgrade in Ferry coming in so time will tell

I personally would keep him. A good player who has performed well imo. See if we had a reserve league these are the players you want to have in the reserves to bring the next lot through. While also playing in the reserves keeping himself fit if needed for the first team. However imo being match fit and getting in the first team no longer matter these days, you get your match fitness in the first team. What a shocking state of affairs.

Barely put a foot wrong in 2 seasons. Solid and dependable, wins everything in the air. Really disappointing that its come out now before the season is over. I think whoever we are signing to replace him will still be a risk, every signing is at our level. Suppose we have to trust the club. If we are letting go of him it could be another ruthless summer.

I’m really surprised at this. Could be there’s more to it though than has come out so far? Maybe he’s only been offered a one year deal and he was wanting two for instance? Who knows but he’ll be a big loss and leaves with our thanks for a job well done.

From what I?m hearing it?s all quite amicable and Gallagher himself wanted the news out so he could find a new club, and accordingly if playing will want to impress potential suitors.

He?s been a model professional and will want to finish on a high. At 34 coaching is his future and a decent championship team with a coaching role would be a good move from him.

And yes, job well done, thanks

Guess it?s all going to be happening with preparations for next season gathering pace. Moult has had two great seasons here and has guaranteed himself a place in the history books, a very good player with a good strike record. However he is 33 and apart from goalies, age does affect performance.

Just hope whoever is coming in is better, and based on the last cycle of recruitment they should be

He's missed a lot of matches this season due to injury too.
