West Brom have held talks with Angus Gunn

There was a shock among EFL fans at the news that Norwich City released Angus Gunn at the end of last season, with the keeper being one of the best in the division and also having plenty of international experience with Scotland.

However, as per information from our Chief Football Correspondent, Graeme Bailey, EFL Analysis can exclusively reveal West Brom are believed to have held talks with the goalkeeper.
    (Still ongoing)

Heard this too Boingy. Norwich fans I know were surprised at him going and certainly worth us going in for him-remember some of those saves he pulled off against ourselves last season?

I still believe that Griffiths has potential but he is young and has seemed a bit nervy in his recent games. The acquisition of an experienced and proven GK like Gunn would be a wise move.

Get him in! How many more soft goals let in by Griffiths before enough?s enough. Nothing to do with him being young as some of the goals ( like the bounce yesterday ) are taking us backwards, letting go of Palmer for the same money as bringing in Heggbo makes little sense to me.

    I agree Omeg.
Young keepers need experienced, older keepers around them. I think it's why keepers develop later in the game.
This would be a good signing if it goes a head.

Gunn has, for quite a long time been considered an uninspiring goalkeeper.

Griffiths is nervy at the minute, but once that position is his and the nerves settle, I think we will have one of the best in the league. He needs to be given a run of 15 games and the same backing Wildsmith had.

You gotta back the young lads if they are good enough, otherwise why have an academy? We know Griffiths is good enough after his brilliant time at Rovers.

Thats ok if we lower our expectations. Forget promotion and give inexperienced players a few seasons to get better in important matches. Im ok with that as long as theres no moaning while we do it. Trouble is baggies fans want success and they want it now.

I still believe that selling Palmer was lunacy. He was possibly the best goalie in the league and we sell him, crazy, that alone could have cost us a playoff place.

Normally agree with you Matt but have to differ on this. Griffiths cost us in the cup match with Wolves and when Palmer left he let in numerous soft goals. Other young players have not suffered stage fright and playing in a lower league offers less expectations and the crowds are small. Had it been a case of not commanding his box I would get this more as Johnstone was not great at this either. The soft goals would be expected to be saved by a keeper in the lower leagues. Even that bounce for the first goal on Saturday was embarrassing.

Some say we had to sell Palmer because of financial restrictions but for more or less the same money we took a gamble on Heggbo. Crazy decision in my opinion.

Being a business owner I had sympathy for Dike but not any more - he?s our highest wage earner on over 30K a week and played a handful of games so get him fit and get rid. You can?t compare Bany with him who most likely is on half his salary and only arrived last year.

I can see Griffiths getting worse and that?s my personal opinion. How long ago was the Wolves match?

I’m not impressed with either of our options tbf. I prefer an older street wise (field wise) keeper. It’s one position you can’t mess around with.
