Thanks for that Brin. I hadn't got a clue who she was and must admit my life is no better now I do. Is she American or just trying to sound like one? Ah one of Leonard Cohen’s finest works, and a song that on occasion drives me mad depending on who is singing it.
There are some rhyming phrases in the song, for example:-
Your faith was strong but you needed proof
You saw her bathing on the roof
Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you
She tied you to a kitchen chair
She broke your throne, and she cut your hair
And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah
Where overthrew you, if pronounced overthrew ya then rhymes with Hallelujah, but you get some mug singers that sing it as written and the rhyme is lost
