Shish Mahal, top of Union Street, mixed tandoori was the best, but I think you’ll need your time machine. I’m more out of the loop than you, but fond memories...
That was the "fountain" job?
Aye, back in them days it was top banana as I recall.
I wouldnae know far to start these days.
I'm telt there's dame's lavvies in The Grill of now.........never seen i' like.
Nazma at the foot of Bridge Street. Monsoona further up has really come on to a game after a disappointing feed there when it opened about 5 years ago.
Nawabs in Summer Street was good, but I hivna been in for a while.
Cinnamon (Union Street) is now Everest, but it was just OK when we grubbed up there before Peterloo (disappointing) on Thursday. The prices were surprisingly low for some reason.
We liked Wild Ginger on Union Street when we sampled it a while ago.
The Light of Bengal (Rose St) still excels, and I first ate in it nearly 40 years ago.
Gixer fae the auld site (Jeff radge comments etc etc), a connoisseur of yer rogan josh and dopiaza, was heaping hosannas on Ambals, right beside The Bridge Bar, when he was in contact last week.
Let's ken what you think.
EDIT: Rishis on George Street. The starter Asparagus Manchurian is ****ing sublime. There are always people of sub-continent ethnicity eating there, which is a sure sign that it's got it right.

Better toddling up to Rose Street
Shabaaz is always worth a visit, or The Light of Bengal.
Shabaaz has been my favourite for the past 20 or so years although the Light of Bengal was the first Indian restaurant I was ever in.
It became my favourite ( late 70's) but I chickened out on the first visit and had steak and chips
For the record, my first ever curry was in the Koh in Noor , Gibson Street, Glasgow.
Soon to fall down.
