Richard Thompson Superb and a cracking songwriter,
Paul Kossoff from Free one of a kind.
Jeff Beck another one of a kind.
And for being underrated. Frank Zappa.

A little bit obscure, Guthrie Govan.

Hendrix of course stands way out on that list.
Randy Rhodes.
But someone whose rhythm guitar playing goes very unnoticed is David Byrne. And Nick Harper is pretty damn incredible.
Oh so many. Hard to pin point a favourite.

Aye your/you're right. One Man's guitarist is another Man's ..inat. Do know the work of Steve Cropper some iconic tunes he's been involved in. There's another yank bluesman called Jimmy Herring who's quite fine he actually has a song called Aberdeen.
