Steve Davis in "Not my fault shock"

I'm getting a bit tired of it always being circumstance or situation based when Davis gets it wrong.
The latest one is that he didn't sign Coulibally to give Cooper and Saunders a chance. Which I'd actually back if he then hadn't signed an Attacking Midfielder and a Striker on loan within a month.

It's getting tedious now isn't it?

    I agree.

My beef with SD has been his lack of support for some of our younger players, often seeming to accuse them of a lack of character and fight when he introduces them in a team without any evident pattern or tactics - and if he does have a game plan it changes with the weather and seldom bears any resemblance to the way they have played throughout the Academy. Now players should be able to adapt, but I would suggest it's asking a lot for 18 and 19 year olds with limited experience to be able to.

Having said that, Coulibaly was hardly a roaring success at Peterborough so I think he probably made the right decision not to take him but, as thnhouse suggests, not for the reasons SD gave at the time. I look forward to Saunders and Cooper getting a good run in the side this year, along with Jones, Udoh and Ainley, and getting the manager's full support if they have a few problems instead of getting blamed and dropped like a hot potato.

Agree absolutely with AstonAlex. It probably was the correct decision not to sign Coulibaly, though SD believed the quality of the opposition in the pre-season friendlies did not give him sufficient confidence to sign the player. I see that Coulibaly is now believing that his Italian passport might put him in the frame for the Azzuri. I would have thought that his stint at Newport County meant that he was a selection near miss for the Euros!
