Noticed we haven't got a friendly game next Saturday week before the season starts which is a bit strange as we've always had a friendly fixture the week before. Wonder if we gonna announce one soon or we just having another behind closed door friendly again.

Paul Davies tweeted earlier that Stubbsy had said it's great to forge ties with a club like Spurs so it wouldn't surprise me if the Grimsby game was cancelled with this in mind. Rather play a behind closed doors game against a better opposition with the chance to build a bit of a relationship with a bigger team instead of going to Cleethorpes on a Wednesday night.

Before anybody asks, Grant Ward did not play but said on Twitter it was nice to see the lads.

Grimsby friendly match being called off must have been a disappointment to Hursty and did not reflect well on RUFC, but if this bit of "diplomacy" with Spurs can get us Grant Ward back, or another Spurs player on loan, it will have been worth it.

I'm sure they would have taken your money but the door would have remained closed
