It all depends on how "a great draw" is defined. If we are looking to progress to the quarter-finals then a home draw against Peterhead would probably have been best: if we are looking to make some cash then obviously an away tie against Celtic or Rangers would have been much better. We could have drawn ICT away and ended up both out of the competition and out of pocket so I reckon a game against Hibs at Easter Road isn't all that bad a draw. From a selfish point of view, I rather enjoy my visits to Easter Road.

We couldn't have been drawn against Peterhead or ICT because like Queens were unseeded in the draw.

The other teams we could have got were Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, Alloa, Partick Thistle, Rangers & Morton.

So the worst away trip would have been Aberdeen and also Partick away would not have been great too as we just played them.

I was personally hoping for a home tie or Celtic away as I have never been to Celtic Park.

I do like my trips to Edinburgh but I like Tynecastle over Easter Road.

So anyway we have 5 games against Hibs this season and possibly more if we get them in the other cups but for this match I do hope that both clubs will agree to reducing the prices.

Was hoping for a home draw at least but there you go - hard midweek match only a few days before the
Honest Men visit Palmy who however also have a difficult game in Ayr v the Dons

Not ideal playing another championship club again but after last seasons disastrous runs in the cup it's good to have qualified and make some much needed money

Of course you are quite right, QOS KING. I had forgotten about the seeding arrangements, probably because I am not wholly in favour of seeding. I can understand that sponsors prefer seeded tournaments which are more likely to lead to, say, a Rangers v Aberdeen or a Celtic v Hearts or, best of all for sponsors, a Celtic v Rangers final rather than a QOS v Partick Thistle final but it is my view that seeded tournaments are designed simply to make "rich" clubs richer. I am not sure what payments are made to quarter finalists, semi-finalists etc (is it right that we get £30k for qualifying?) but, that said, I still think that Hibernian v Queens is a reasonable draw. We have a chance of progressing (although we are certainly going into the game as second favourites) and a reasonable financial return if we don't.

Queens are guarantee 30k and it would go up to 50k if we could beat Hibs.

I am pleased that the game is getting played on Tuesday rather than the Wednesday as it means I can go.

Its interesting that Gavin Skelton actually prefers away matches - if you listen to his thoughts after each game. He was asked after the Stenny match if he'd prefer a home tie and he specifically stated that he had no preference.

I find that strange, - and wonder if it has anything to do with the barracking that he and the players receive from the main stand?

If it is, - then we really need to improve the level of support that is provided at Palmerston.
