    The new affside rule

Should we just do away with offside altogether if this can be called a perfectly legitimate goal?

It would seem it is now down to the guy with the whistle to make the decision as to whether the player is "interfering with an opponent", putting more pressure on him to call it right, which he will probably get wrong more times than not, with most refs calling offside to err on caution.

Looking at the still the celtic player looks offside, he looks to be "interfering" with the goalkeeper, (ohh matron ), but I am told he is onside by many, yet a few months back he would have been a mile offside.

Mibbe we should do away with these stupid rules and just have a 10- 21er or play for two hours with the last goal the winner?

I believe he is offside - but since he is not interfering with the goalkeeper - indeed is in fact several yards away with his back to the ball - then he is not committing an offence. I don't think this is a new rule - he didn't touch the ball.
As for being in the 'keeper's line of sight - there are two Hearts' players definitely obstructing his line of sight, so even if the Celtic player wasn't there, 'keeper still wouldn't be able to see anything.
Have you got another still about two seconds later...

Haven't got another still, but the keeper doesn't start diving till the ball is above the penalty spot, (near enough), I don't think he sees the ball till late and the celtic player is right in front of him,, the new rule means the ref can call it either way and put it down to his interpretation, this'll cause phukin mayhem in Scotland if it happens in an OF game! The ref'll be a fenni@n basturt or an Orange basturt depending on how it goes, the poor c()nts have got it hard enough.

    Have a look yersel................

I think the old way was more cut and dried and as rolf says would probably be easier to administer. But as the refs could, and sometimes did, overrule the linesmen on offsides anyway its a bit of a moot point

For me it's stupid law to be offside just a we bit over the halfway line ..

To make the game more interesting I've always thought that rule should be just inside the opponent's box..

It's frustrating playing against teams who just want to kill the game with defensive tactics .
It just kills the game we need to make it more enjoyable and get the fans back to the game. Not sure what else we could do to change our game for the better.
