    599

This is the amount of Queens fans at Tannadice according to Dundee United.

I find that figure slightly exaggerated. LOL

While it was an impressive showing from Queens fans, I didnt think there was that many. This is what they are saying though.

May well be correct being the first league game of the season away and the first league encounter since the 63-4 season at Tannadice. The programme on Saturday usually states the away crowd, if that's where you are getting the figure from JRS?

I am often surprised at the number of Queens fans at away games: but how can we take 599 to Tannadice then fall short of the 2000 mark, inclusive of Ayr United fans, for the first home league game of the season the very next week?

Hi Cresswell. Firstly , I was there and it didn't look one short of 600. Secondly, a fair number of Queens fans moved away from the town seeking higher education, jobs etc and never came back here to live . Quite a lot of Queens fans live in the Central Belt now and away games are their ' home' games.

Occasionally I used to meet a fan who travelled down with his two young boys from Aberdeen. I recall meeting him at places like Alloa and Forfar. Haven't seen him in a while. I wonder if he still comes to these "home" games.

Also a fair amount of the fans who travel up from Dumfries to away fixtures are obviously part of the home crowds. Our away attendance is obviously topped up by people like me who make it to more away than home fixtures but I'd guess that most are stalwarts from Dumfries. Be interested to see figures though. Maybe someone should do a poll at an away fixture or two!
