Brendan seems to be a bit of a spoofer. First getting beaten by some part-time mob from Malta - I mean Malta FFS - according to him isn't an embarrassment. And now getting absolutely ridden 7-0 in Europe isn't embarrassing either

I don't think Barca putting seven past us is embarrassing either. It is disappointing but, as has been pointed out, they've put more past better in recent times. If we get a similar pumping from the English and the Germans, I will be very disappointed... And surprised.

7-0 is an embarrassing score. I think I'm right in saying it's the biggest defeat they ever suffered in Europe. FFS are you really going to try to claim it wasn't embarrassing? Ye could barely get the ball out yer own box, never mind out yer own hauf.

Can't see ye taking any points away from home tbh and could end up with a record aggregate goals against total. Ye might, just might, get a point against ze germans in Glasgow

It is the best team we have ever faced in Europe, so hardly surprising it is the heaviest defeat.
Had we gone into the game expecting anything other than a hiding, a 7-0 doing might well have been embarrassing.
The fact is that, unlike the other 'erse cheek', most of us are fairly realistic about our place in football's pantheon. We are a big fish in a microscopic drop of water but, in comparison even to our next door neighbour, we barely scrape into the bottom of the 'Footballing Minnow' league. We don't trade on past glories. Whilst it is okay to mention (now and again) that Celtic were the first, and will almost certainly be the last, Scottish club to win Europe's big prize, what happened 50 years ago (in 8 months and 11 days time) has no bearing whatsoever on our quality today.
We happen to be the fastest cyclist in our league right now, by a considerable margin.
Unfortunately everyone else is on a Ducati.

I am hopeful our guys will benefit from the experience of coming up against the top players on the planet, and equally hopeful that they will direct the hurt this result has inflicted upon them towards domestic opposition.
As much as they have been knocked down, last nights' caning should only serve as an incentive to get right back there and do it again, only this time a little better, and the only way for a team like Celtic to do that is to win our own domestic league.
So no, it wasn't embarrassing. It was disappointing and I did think we could have done a little better, but coming away with zero points from Camp Nou is no shame.
