    O/T Ryder Cup

I know golf is not everyone's cup of tea but the Ryder Cup has to be one of the best matches in sport, unless of course like me you are forced to watch it through US TV 'eyes'.

Northern England contingent (Westwood, Willett and Fitzpatrick) not covering themselves in any glory so far and haven't recorded a single point so let's hope they can redeem themselves and get 3pts in the singles tomorrow. I almost puked when Lee missed those two putts and that is exactly the reason he has never won nor ever will win a major.

I love the Ryder Cup, a bit down about yesturday but at least we're in it still. Looking forward to watching it later, I get the chance for a change.

Totally agree about Westwood, gutted with those putts but the singles are different gravy, we're up against it and the yanks are a really good team to be fair this year, but with us being holders a draw will do and i feel it will be that close!

Another thing, what is wrong with the yankee supporters? absolute tools many of them, Danny Willet's brother was absolutely bang on about them being morons.

Looking bleak now. Need a bigger turnaround than when we were 2-0 down to Orient at Wembley. Those Northerners need to start showing some steel and fight their way back.

Deserved win by America, great golf on both sides but they made the big putts when it mattered....special mention for the USA captain, Davis Love, very humble in victory, a proper bloke.

    I agree.

17-11 seems like a beat down but all it would have taken was the McIlroy, Rose and Westwood one hole losses to go the other way and it would have been 14-14 and cup retained. Poor showing in the end by the Northerners, especially Willett who I think was affected by the fuss over his brother's comments. In general the crowds created a great atmosphere but as always there's a small minority that spoiled things. I don't mind the cheering and nationalism and even the heckling but can't stand poor sportsmanship. One especially was when someone yelled "Miss It" just as Westwood pulled his putter back on the one he did miss on the 17th on Saturday afternoon. That, along with his miss on the next was a big momentum swinger as I think was Reid holing from just off the green on Sunday just after Rory had holed that monster putt (6th?).

Maybe Europe need to go with a 4th captain's pick and leave it late like US did with Ryan Moore. Paul Casey was playing great golf recently and would have been a great addition.

The Garcia v Mickleson match must be the best singles match in Ryder Cup history. 19 birdies between them and no winner. Zack Johnson beat Fitzpatrick 4&3 and only had 2 birdies.

Sorry but Clarke blew it. His selection of Westwood as a wild card was ill-judged but to persevere with him and Kaymer when they were both clearly mentally shot was suicidal. Great pity about Poulter's foot but we should have had McDowell and F. Molinari in as wild cards, even perhaps Colsaerts and Russell Knox. Worst captain since Faldo.
