Good. IMO although I watch it, and know more about it than anyone I know, F1 is fundamentally a bit boring, but the fact that its a worldwide sport dominated by Britain appeals to my patriotic spirit and its important to me to have a visible demonstration of that. It will continue to be Hammer Time.
My brother and a friend of both ours works for Mercedes HPP down there at Brixworth building the engine's so I usually get the odd snippet of inside info, I've known for a couple of years now that Merc were burning more than just petrol, did you ever notice why only the mercs smoked when leaving the pit garage, none of the other Merc engined teams did?
More than just oil, its what was in the oil!
Reminds me of my good ol' girl friend from Durham NC who lives near a NASCAR team workshop (can't remember the name but it was the one next to the USF1 operation). The story she told me, and its probably apocryphal but so what, is that the team's car got hauled in by the stewards at a race one weekend accused of suspected sophisticated fuel system cheat, and the stewards tore the car apart. They found numerous irregularities, and apart from punishing the team by disqualification, they added to it by leaving the dismantled fuel system, tank, carburator and all, on the deck. They then watched in amazement as the driver fired the car up and blazed off for two laps at 150mph while his mechanics barrowed his fuel system back to his pit..... Race car stories are so much better than footy stories, even when made up
